Zielonki lies along the 12.9-kilometre Trasa Zabytków, which runs from Solec-Zdrój via Zborów, Włosnowice, Świniary “Nowa Wieś” and Zielonki, before returning to Solec-Zdrój. The village is therefore part of a circuit, not its endpoint. For your travel planning, this combines the question of how long a longer tour takes with a specific cultural detail in the village: the figure of Matki Bożej Różańcowej (Our Lady of the Rosary), dating from 1928. This makes it possible to consider Zielonki as a stop when planning a route and also associate it with a landmark of its own.

The Trasa Zabytków on foot or by bicycle

A municipal guide from 2012 gives a walking time of three to four hours for the entire Trasa Zabytków, and a cycling time of one and a half to two hours. The 2024 municipal report also lists the route through Zielonki as 12.9 kilometres long. This makes it possible to plan the circuit as a walk lasting several hours or as a shorter cycling trip. Zielonki is at kilometre 10.1 on the circuit, measured from the starting point in Solec-Zdrój. Check local trail conditions before setting off.

The connection from Zielonki to Solec-Zdrój is separately listed as taking 40 minutes on foot or 20 minutes by bicycle. If you are planning only this connection, these are useful estimates for the journey between the two villages. Keep these times separate from the duration of the full circuit: the three to four hours and one and a half to two hours refer to the Trasa Zabytków, while the shorter times apply to the connection from Zielonki to Solec-Zdrój. Check local conditions before your trip as well.

A memorial at the site

The figure of Matki Bożej Różańcowej (Our Lady of the Rosary) stands by the first houses in Zielonki. It dates from 1928 and stands on a pillar about two metres high. The capital—the upper part of the pillar—is inspired by the Corinthian style. The inscription “Fundacja wsi Zielonki 1928” appears on the pedestal. Rose branches are depicted beneath the feet of the Marian figure. The arrangement of the robes and these rose branches resemble the figure in Wełnin. In English, the inscription means “Founded by the village of Zielonki, 1928.” For travellers interested in religious sculpture or local history, the dedication, date and design offer a tangible point of interest.

A former nest site nearby

A former stork’s nest site was about 0.5 kilometres from the crossroads in Zielonki, on the left side of the road towards Ludwinów, near property no. 16.
