Gościniec is a destination for travelers who want to orient their stay around cycling routes, walking opportunities and a nearby protected landscape. A green-marked cycling route passes through the village from Chęciny toward Miedzianka; another green route and a combined walking and cycling path add to the options. Nearby Góra Miedzianka and the annual commemorative events at the Pomnik Lotników are also worth noting. These features give your stay a distinct regional focus without reducing Gościniec to a single destination.

Green Cycling Routes Through Gościniec

The green-marked cycling route from Chęciny via Polichno to Miedzianka is 11.5 kilometers long and passes through Gościniec. The municipal route itinerary lists Chęciny, Plac Żeromskiego (Dolny Rynek), Skiby, Gościniec, Polichno and Charężów, ending at Miedzianka. This means you can take both the route’s length and its named stops into account when planning. Route conditions may change, so check the current route before setting out.

Another green cycling route, Szlakiem Rycerstwa Zamku Królewskiego, also passes through Gościniec. It is 23 kilometers long and fully paved. The route is 23 kilometers long and fully paved; surfaces may change. The 11.5 kilometers refer to the Chęciny–Miedzianka connection, while the 23 kilometers refer to the Szlakiem Rycerstwa Zamku Królewskiego route—two differently named routes that both pass through Gościniec.

Walks and Góra Miedzianka

As of August 21, 2025, a combined walking and cycling path connected Gościniec, near the school, with Polichno and was used for walking and cycling. Alongside the longer cycling routes, this provides a connection between the two villages that can also be used on foot.

The Góra Miedzianka nature reserve is nearby. Established in 1958, it covers 25 hectares and lies within Chęcińsko-Kielecki Landscape Park. A yellow hiking trail runs through the reserve, as does a blue cycling route. Trail markings may change, so it is advisable to check them before setting out. The access road to the nature reserve begins on the Kielce–Małogoszcz road; it points toward Skiby, Gościniec and Polichno, and its destination is the village of Miedzianka. The Muzealna Izba Górnictwa Kruszcowego is another attraction associated with Góra Miedzianka.

Commemorative Events in September

Every year in September, the Municipality and Town of Chęciny hold commemorative events at the Pomnik Lotników in Gościniec for the aviators, instructors and graduates of the gliding school who fought and died in the Second World War. The program includes flying displays, performances by students from the school in Polichno, and a memorial Mass for the fallen. If you specifically want to attend an event, check the dates and program for your travel period.

Getting Around and Finding Your Way

In 2023, a bus route ran from Chęciny via Polichno to Gościniec, serving the Gościniec (Skiby) and Gościniec (Przysiółek) stops. Eight services were listed for the connection between Gościniec and Chęciny. This is historical timetable information, not a current schedule. If you plan to travel by bus, check current services before your trip.

For navigating the area, the route itinerary and the named places can serve as reference points: the cycling route to Miedzianka passes through Polichno, while the combined walking and cycling path connects Gościniec with Polichno. The landscape around Góra Miedzianka, its trails and their markings, and the commemorative events at the Pomnik Lotników add nature, activity and remembrance to this regional experience.
