Ćmielów has a porcelain-making heritage and is described as a place that has long been known for its porcelain factory. The Living Porcelain Museum in Ćmielów presents porcelain production, including shaping, firing, and handcrafting techniques. History

The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary already existed in the 14th century and is a Gothic, single-nave building with later Baroque and other additions. The ruins of Ćmielów Castle date from 1519–1531 and include fortifications with earthen bastions from the 17th century.

Ćmielów lies on the Kamienna River; on its course toward the Vistula, the river turns sharply north there.
