Granowo can be explored through several distinct features: a manor house with a park, religious monuments, cultural activities at the library and cycling routes. This combination gives you different points of interest to consider when planning a trip to Poland. Historic sites offer a glimpse into Granowo’s architectural past; the cultural venue and named cycling routes add to this picture. When planning your trip, it is therefore worth considering which of these themes you want to shape your stay.

Manor House, Park and History

Pałac w Granowie is a 19th-century manor house in a 4.57-hectare park on Stawowa Street. The succession of residents is also part of the house’s history: in the 19th century it was inhabited by the Działyński family, and in the 20th century by the Czartoryski family.

The listed palace complex also includes the Oficyna, a former 18th-century manor house. It is therefore a distinct historic part of the estate alongside the 19th-century manor house. Their different construction dates provide several clearly distinguishable points of reference for the town’s history. Today, the manor house is home to the Biblioteka Publiczna Gminy Granowo and the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury.

Church and Places of Remembrance

The parish church of St Martin is considered one of the most valuable historic sites in Granowo municipality. Its complex includes a wooden bell tower dating from the late 19th century. The church is located on the “Powiatowym Szlaku Turystycznym im. Michała Drzymały, Kościoły Drewniane Powiatu Grodziskiego”.

The grave of Michał Hoffmann is located by the church. He was a private in the 3rd Battalion of the western group of the Greater Poland insurgents and fell on the western front on 11 February 1919. Another place of remembrance is Góra Zwycięstwa: the memorial park lies in the centre of Granowo, at the junction of Poznańska and Szkolna streets. The church, grave and memorial park each provide their own point of reference for the town’s history.

Culture at the Library

The Biblioteka Publiczna Gminy Granowo also serves as a cultural centre. Meetings of the Pracownia Gobelinu Artystycznego and the “Granowianie” vocal ensemble are held there. The cultural programme also includes tapestry exhibitions and meetings with artists and book authors. The programme may change; if you would like to plan your trip around a particular meeting or exhibition, it is best to check the latest dates.

Cycling Routes and Getting Around

Cycling routes are another notable feature of Granowo. A cycle path built in 2012 connects Granowo with Granówko. It was built as part of the “Renewal and Development of Rural Areas” measure under the PROW for 2007–2013. Another cycle path connects Granowo with Kubaczyn. A route allows residents of Drużyn to reach Granowo on foot or by bicycle. This information specifically concerns residents of Drużyn.

The pavement on Kościańska Street in Granowo extends the newly built cycle path. A covered rest area for tourists was built beside the railway viaduct. Together, these details give the cycling theme a specific local context: they point to named routes and a place for tourists to rest in the town.

If you are considering Granowo as a destination, its historic monuments, cultural activities or cycling routes may each give you a different reason to plan a visit. Which of these shapes your stay depends on what you would like to focus on during your trip to Poland.
