Luboń: The Warta, nature and industrial history

Luboń brings together the Warta and green spaces with places where nature, recreation and industrial history come to life. The Warta and the surrounding natural areas are also part of the Nadwarciański Szlak Rowerowy. This route runs along the river through Kocie Doły to Wielkopolski National Park. Near Lasek Majoński, the river is also an important ecological corridor, providing shelter for numerous fish, bird and mammal species. Places of remembrance and industrial history

The Muzeum Martyrologiczne w Żabikowie is located in Żabikowo. Founded in 1979, it looks after the grounds and objects that remain from the Nazi camps operated there from 1941 to 1945. The former camp grounds are open to visitors. The museum has two permanent exhibitions: “Więzienie Policyjne Policji Bezpieczeństwa oraz Wychowawczy Obóz Pracy w Posen-Lenzingen” and “Obozy pracy Przymusowej dla Żydów w Kraju Warty 1941–1943”. These subjects give your visit a clear historical focus.

Industrial history is also evident in the townscape. A few listed buildings and houses from the former factory settlement have been preserved on the site of the former Koehlmann factory. Siewcy Park is part of a factory settlement built around 1908 for managerial and technical employees of the chemical factory in Luboń. The park is also home to the Siewca monument, one of the few works by Marcin Rożek to have survived to this day.
