Bystra lies north of Szymbark, in the valley of the Bystrzanka stream. Across 1,436 hectares, two distinct themes for planning a trip come together here: hiking in the foothill landscape and a cycle route that runs directly through the village. The village also has the history of a manor house and places of remembrance. You can decide whether you would like to discover Bystra primarily as a destination for outdoor activity, a place of cultural and historical interest, or a combination of both.

From Bystra to Maślana Góra and Łysa Góra

From Bystra, you can hike to the summit of Maślana Góra and take in the foothill landscape along the way. The summit of Łysa Góra can also be reached on foot from Bystra; the described hiking experience likewise includes views of the foothills. Both peaks therefore offer a specific starting point if you would like to plan your time outdoors around a summit destination.

The Royal Cycle Route runs through the village

Bystra is also an interesting destination for a cycling trip: the Royal Cycle Route runs through the village and is 110 kilometres long in total. Along the way, it connects, among other places, Biecz, Zagórzany, Gorlice, Stróże, Grybów, Nowy Sącz, Stary Sącz, Obidza and the Przełęcz Przysłop.

The route runs mainly on paved roads. Short sections follow surfaced paths and forest tracks. Overall, the Royal Cycle Route is rated as easy; the most difficult sections are considered to be the stretches between Kamionka Wielka and Kamionka Mała, between Przysietnica and Skrudzina, and between Łazy Brzyńskie and Obidza.

Manor house, park and a long history of the village

A prominent historical landmark in Bystra is the manor house of the Groblewski family. The single-storey, brick building with a roof structure was built in 1906–1907 and extended after 1930 by Kazimierz Groblewski. Today, it houses the Zespół Szkół Centrum Kształcenia Rolniczego.

The manor house also has a park considered worthy of heritage protection, dating from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The trees mentioned include maple, sycamore, lime and ash.

Bystra’s origins date back to 1369. Near the school stands a statue of the Immaculate Virgin Mary from 1899.

Another excursion destination towards Gorlice

Nearby is Gorlicka Golgota, on the 424-metre-high Góra Zamkowa in the western part of Gorlice. From Bystra, it can be reached by road in the direction of Gorlice. This means you can include Gorlice as a separate excursion destination in your trip plans, alongside the hiking destinations starting from Bystra.

Which accommodation suits your travel plans?

If hiking to Maślana Góra or Łysa Góra is your priority, you can consider Bystra as a base for these destinations. For a cycling trip, the Royal Cycle Route that runs through the village offers a different way to plan your stay. Whether you are looking for a hotel, a holiday apartment or a holiday home, you can base your choice on your planned hikes or your cycle trip on the Royal Cycle Route.
