Raciborowice combines a Gothic parish church with cycling routes and a landscape that extends to the village. This offers several specific perspectives for planning your trip: the church as a destination on the “Dolina Dłubni” cycling route, a green circular route through Raciborowice and Michałowice, and natural and architectural history. This combination can help you choose a stay in Poland based not only on a single attraction, but also on possible themes for excursions.

The natural landscape along the Dłubnia

The Dłubnia Landscape Park encompasses the Dłubnia Valley and the adjoining upland, stretching from the river’s sources near Trzyciąż to Raciborowice. The village is therefore at one end of this protected area; the valley and upland together form its scenic setting. The park is home to aquatic animals such as water frogs, fish and beavers. For nature enthusiasts, both the landscape and its wildlife are part of what defines the park.

Cycling routes with different layouts

Two cycling routes with different described layouts are available to help you plan your rides. The blue “Dolina Dłubni” cycling route is over 40 km long, of which 11.2 km run through the municipality of Michałowice. The two figures refer to different sections: the first is the length of the entire cycling route, and the second is the portion within the municipality of Michałowice. The route leads to the Gothic church in Raciborowice, which is a clearly designated destination.

The green “Pętla Raciborowice–Michałowice–Raciborowice” cycling loop also runs through Raciborowice and Michałowice before returning to Raciborowice. When comparing the options, the length and destination of the blue cycling route are set against a route explicitly described as a loop.

Church and historic buildings

The parish church of St Margaret is a Gothic church from the 15th century, built by the Polish chronicler Jan Długosz. A later period adds to the artistic history of the nave: Renaissance polychromes from the 17th century were discovered there in 1963. The church is also the destination of the “Dolina Dłubni” cycling route in Raciborowice.

Other historic buildings offer a different perspective. Raciborowice is home to a wooden Neoclassical cemetery chapel dating from 1847. At Młyńska 1 stands the former mill, a wooden building dating from 1897. The chapel and the former mill differ both in purpose and in date. Together with the Gothic church, they provide a historical perspective spanning from the 15th century to the late 19th century; the two wooden buildings were built five decades apart.
