Ptaszkowa combines nature, trails for a range of activities and a distinctive cultural and historical landmark. The village lies in a broad valley at an elevation of about 500 metres. To the north, Rosochatka (753 m) and Koziniec (560 m) frame the landscape; to the south rises the Podstawne–Jaworze massif, with Podstawne (818 m) and Jaworze (882 m). These ridges give the village a clear landscape setting.
Nature Trail and Views
The Ptaszkowa nature trail includes a viewpoint overlooking Rosochatka and Koziniec, as well as the village centre. The elevations indicate the heights of the two northern hills, while the view of the houses brings the village itself into the landscape. There is also a small ecological protected area along the trail, preserving valuable plant habitats.
Animal habitats are also part of the nature trail’s character: it includes areas for numerous insects and amphibians, including fire salamanders, grass frogs and common toads. Anyone interested in nature and landscapes will find a range of themes along this same route—from views across the hills to habitat conservation. The nature trail partially follows the same route as a separately marked papal trail.
Hiking Trails and Mountain Bike Route
There are two distinct routes to help you navigate the hiking trails: a blue hiking trail leads from Ptaszkowa to Krynica. A green hiking trail leads from the summit to GrybĂłw.

Cross-Country Skiing and Ropes Course
The Centrum SportĂłw Zimowych in Ptaszkowa has two paved cross-country ski trails: one is 1,000 metres long and the other 1,600 metres. Both are lit, artificially snowed and groomed. If cross-country skiing is part of your travel plans, check current operating conditions before a winter visit. The longer trail is 600 metres longer than the shorter one; both trails are lit, snowed and groomed.
The ropes course has four separate courses at different heights and with varying difficulty levels. A dedicated children’s course is intended mainly for children, but adults can use it too; it has 20 obstacles. Opening and booking conditions may change, so check the latest information before your visit.
Wooden Church and Getting There
The wooden church in Ptaszkowa offers a cultural counterpoint to the outdoor activities. Built in 1555 in the Gothic style using log construction, it features a Gothic Madonna and Child sculpture dating from around 1420 on the right side altar. Its construction, age and sculpture give the village a tangible historical dimension distinct from its nature and activity offerings.
