Natural Phenomena in Tylicz
One notable natural feature is the Tylicz Mofeta, a natural release of carbon dioxide from deeper layers of the Earth. Gas escapes at several points, and marked paths pass by these vents. The geological phenomenon and the paths running alongside it are therefore both part of the visitor experience. Visiting hours vary by season. If you plan to visit the Mofeta, check the hours for the relevant season in advance and plan your day accordingly.
At the Bradowiec spring, the focus is on its visible design: it is enclosed by a concrete ring, covered by a decorative pavilion, and has an information board beside it. In contrast to the Mofeta, the natural feature here is a spring set within an enclosure, while the Mofeta is centred on several carbon dioxide vents and marked paths. These two places offer different ways to explore Tylicz’s natural environment.
Comparing Hiking and Cycling Routes
The marked Tylicka Pętla is a ten-kilometre hiking and cycling route. It passes the Tyliczanka water intake point, Szubienica, and Horb, then follows Road 75 to the summit of Łan. Several named points along the described route can help you find your way. Check the trail markings locally before setting out; this will help you take the route into account when planning.
A second hiking and cycling route, Kropla Delice, is seven kilometres long and starts at the Kropla Beskidu bottling plant. It is easy to compare the routes by length: the Tylicka Pętla is three kilometres longer. Several waypoints and the route to Łan are named for the Tylicka Pętla; for Kropla Delice, the bottling plant provides a specific point of reference for the start. Both routes are designated for hiking and cycling. When planning an active day, you can take into account both their lengths and the route points described for each.
Local History and Religious Sites
The Historical Trail from the Town Hall to Szubienica passes seven stops. They cover the town’s founding, court proceedings, robbers, and religious conflicts. The trail thus offers an introduction to several topics in local history, which you can explore one stop at a time. Its breadth of historical themes distinguishes it from the hiking and cycling routes, where length, waypoints, and route layout are most useful for planning.
The churches also provide specific historical reference points. The Parish Church of Saints Peter and Paul dates from 1612. The Greek Catholic Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian was built in 1743 and entered in the register of monuments on 5 September 1964. These dates point to different aspects: the recorded construction year of one church, and the construction year and later register entry of the other.
