From Krośnica, you can enjoy sweeping views across the Nowy Targ Valley, as well as expansive views of the Tatra Mountains. These two perspectives bring together the breadth of the valley and the mountain backdrop, giving the place a strong connection to nature. In the past, some residents of Krośnica made their living from pastoral farming. The Pieniny highlanders trace their roots to Krośnica. These are two distinct historical connections: the former livelihood of some residents and the cultural origins of the Pieniny highlanders. Alongside the landscape views, the cultural history therefore has its own place in choosing a travel destination.

Excursions and Routes

Krośnica is considered a good base for trips to Lake Czorsztyńskie. A regional driving route passes through the village and continues to Czorsztyn and the ruins of Wronin Castle, as well as to Sromowce Niżne, where the Dunajec River rafting trip begins. The lake excursion has one specific destination, while the driving route names several places and the starting point for the rafting trip.

The shortened circular route around Lake Czorsztyńskie runs from Dębno via Route 969 and Snozka Pass to Krośnica. There, turn right towards Sromowce Wyżne; the route then continues via Niedzica, Falsztyn, and Frydman back to Dębno. Unlike the general driving route through Krośnica, this circular route gives a complete sequence of places and returns to the starting point. When choosing a route, pay attention to the two place names: the driving route names Sromowce Niżne as the starting point for the rafting trip, while the shortened lake circuit goes to Sromowce Wyżne. The names refer to different route details.

Getting There and Getting Around

If you are coming from Krościenko, turn left in Krośnica at the signs for Niedzica and Sromowce. After two kilometres, continue towards Czorsztyn. Check the signs on site.

Under the rules of Pieniński Park, motor vehicles and horse-drawn vehicles are permitted only on the county road between Krośnica and Sromowce Wyżne; other park roads are closed to these vehicles. Cycling is permitted on the county road mentioned. When planning your visit to the park, distinguish between the modes of transport and follow the rules for your route. The route description and park rules answer different questions: the regional route lists destinations, while the park rules specify which roads are open to motor vehicles and horse-drawn vehicles.

One of the “Grzybki” rest areas is also located in Gronniki in the Sołectwo of Krośnica. This specific place name adds a local reference point for visitors to the destinations on the regional driving route.
