When planning a stay in Sitkówka, you can consider which experiences matter to you on your trip. The wider Kielce destination offers a range of themes: water attractions in Nowiny, a large open-air museum in Tokarnia, and historic and sacred sites. This gives you an idea of whether you would like to focus your stay on water activities, regional architecture, or history.

Water attractions in Nowiny

The Perła Water Park in Nowiny combines slides with other water and wellness facilities. The outdoor slide is 94 metres long and features light and sound effects. The 35-metre-long indoor slide is semi-open. The two slides therefore differ not only in length but also in design.

The facilities also include an infrared sauna, a Finnish sauna, and a steam room. The whirlpools use therapeutic peat and brine water; water massages are also available. These massages are available to children and older people, too. For visitors with different interests, the park therefore offers quieter wellness facilities in addition to the slides.

Aqua aerobics classes are offered to people of all ages. No swimming skills or special level of physical fitness are required. If you want to work specifically on your swimming, you can also book private lessons with one of the swimming instructors who work there. The classes and private lessons cater to different preferences: group exercise in the water or a one-to-one swimming lesson.

Architecture and history in the Kielce destination

The Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia is an open-air museum covering more than 65 hectares. It includes over 80 historic buildings, including farmhouses, barns, windmills, churches, and manor houses. The site recreates typical village settlement patterns from four subregions of the Kielecczyzna: the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, the Sandomierz Upland, and the Nida Basin. This allows visitors to focus their visit on rural architecture and the differences between these regions. Thematic guided tours are available for groups and individual visitors; reservations are required.

The manor house of Henryk Sienkiewicz in Oblęgorek offers another distinct cultural focus. It houses Poland’s first museum dedicated to the life and work of the Nobel laureate. His apartment has been recreated in the historic ground-floor rooms, including a study, living room, dining room, smoking room, and bedroom. The rooms give the museum visit a tangible connection to Sienkiewicz’s life and work.

Other historic destinations in the wider Kielce area include the Święty Krzyż Monastery and the Royal Castle of Chęciny. The monastery is an active religious institution: it was once associated with the Benedictines and is now home to Missionaries of the Oblates of the Immaculate Virgin Mary. Chęciny Castle was one of the Crown’s important fortresses in the Middle Ages. These sites offer different historical perspectives: religious life on the one hand, and the role of a medieval fortress on the other.
