In Dmosin, you’ll find the Parish Church of St. Andrew the Apostle and, by the river bridge, the remains of a former manor complex. In the associated municipality, DinoPark Kołacinek adds trails and exhibitions about fairy tales, dinosaurs, the Ice Age and fossils to the area’s history. This lets you explore different themes for your trip to Poland without conflating the sights in the town with the attractions in the municipal area.

Church history in several building phases

The brick Parish Church of St. Andrew the Apostle was built in 1728 and consecrated in 1761. Its dedication is to St. Andrew the Apostle and St. Margaret, Virgin and Martyr. Between 1925 and 1930, the church was given two side aisles and two entrance porches. Its building history therefore includes both its construction in the 18th century and a later extension.

Side aisles are lateral sections of a church, while entrance porches are located in front of the main church space. These terms help put the structures added between 1925 and 1930 into context: the extension affected both the church interior and its entrance porches. If you’re interested in architectural history, you can view the dates of construction, consecration and extension as three distinct milestones rather than combining them into a single building phase.

The listed visiting times are on Sundays and public holidays, before and after services, as well as by prior arrangement. Check in advance whether access is available under these conditions.

Manor house remains by the river bridge

The remains of a former manor complex are located by the river bridge in Dmosin. They include a surviving brick mill from the 1920s and the ruins of the larch-wood manor house. The manor house burned down in spring 2002. The mill and manor house are therefore distinguishable by their materials, condition and dates: a surviving mill building stands alongside the ruins of the manor house that burned down.

By the river bridge in Dmosin are the mill and the manor house ruins; the parish church adds to these examples of local architectural history. Together with the parish church, they offer tangible starting points if you’re interested in Dmosin’s architectural and historical heritage.

Fairy-tale trail and exhibitions at DinoPark Kołacinek

DinoPark Kołacinek, in the associated municipality, offers a range of themed areas. The educational fairy-tale trail “Bajkowa Ścieżka” features characters from fairy tales. Life-size dinosaur figures line the Mesozoic trail. The park also presents dinosaur life and examples of trees and plants in its historic park. Fairy-tale themes and prehistoric times thus offer two different ways to explore the park.

The interactive exhibition “Świat Prehistorii” in the 3D hall is visited with a guide. It includes a dinosaur tunnel, a volcano and a Pteranodon nest. This offers a different way to explore prehistoric times than the Mesozoic trail: the focus here is on the interactive exhibition and its individual features.

The exhibition “Świat Lodu” provides information about Pleistocene mammals and the Ice Age. A geological and palaeontological exhibition displays fossils millions of years old, including ammonites, trilobites, sponges and belemnites. Halite from the salt mine in Kłodawa is also on display. DinoPark’s range of exhibits therefore spans fairy-tale characters, dinosaurs, the Ice Age and fossils.

For your travel planning, the difference between the themes is easy to keep in mind: in Dmosin itself, the parish church and manor house remains tell the story of the town’s architecture and history; DinoPark Kołacinek broadens the picture in the associated municipality with fairy tales, prehistory and the history of the Earth. Choose your focus based on whether you’re more interested in historic buildings, architectural remains, or the exhibitions and trails.
