Zabornia: Floodplain Forest, Woodland Walks and Cycling Routes

Zabornia can be considered as a travel destination in terms of its forests, floodplain forest and cycling routes. At the level of the village of Zabornia, a floodplain forest has been preserved between the river and the village. It is home to impressive poplars, willows, elms and oaks, as well as a network of small bodies of water. The woodland areas around Zabornia are rich in wildlife and mushrooms. This offers two different perspectives on nature: the floodplain forest can be appreciated through its location, tree species and bodies of water, while wildlife and mushrooms are the main features of the woodland areas. Cycling Routes in Different Directions

The cycling routes also differ in their stated destinations. A municipal description dated 30 August 2019 mentions a cycling route that runs from Głogów (Glogau) through Zabornia towards Chobienia. A route description dated 15 February 2015 takes the “Szlakiem Odry” route from Głogów via Zabornia towards Borków. The route is listed as 27 km long; the described return route to Głogów is 20 km. The information therefore gives Chobienia and Borków as different directions, while the distances of 27 and 20 km explicitly refer to the route and the return route, respectively. This is useful when planning a ride by direction and distance: the return-route information is part of your route choice and should not be confused with the 27 km route length. Check the current route and signage before setting off.

Woodland Walk and Arrival

A municipal educational booklet from 2016 describes a woodland walk near Zabornia. According to the description, a wooden shelter belonging to the “Odra” hunting club stands near the information board. The booklet mentions it as a place to rest and have refreshments you have brought with you. The stop is therefore described as a break with your own provisions. Check before visiting whether access is currently possible.

For directions, the route description mentions a car park at the end of the paved road, before the forest administration office. As this information dates from 2016, check the current parking situation before setting off. In the description, the car park and the shelter serve different purposes for orientation: the car park marks the arrival point, while the shelter is near the information board along the described woodland walk. This distinction helps you avoid mistaking the arrival point for the place to take a break.
