Church, Column and Streetscape
The parish Church of Our Lady, Queen of Poland, and St. Maternus dates back to a wooden predecessor from 1264. It was remodeled in the Baroque style in 1732; its tower dates from 1816. A votive column donated by Judge Wolff in 1672, with a twisted shaft, also stands by the church. It is considered unique in the Kłodzko region. The dates distinguish the predecessor building, the remodeling phase and the later tower, rather than reducing the building history to a single date.
Ulica Kościuszki, the main street of Stronie Śląskie, also gives an impression of the preserved buildings from around 1900. These include small apartment and residential buildings, as well as hotel and restaurant buildings from that period. Another landmark is the restored historic railway station building from 1897: today, it houses the municipal cultural center Centrum Edukacji, Turystyki i Kultury, which includes a tourist information office.
Mountain Landscapes and Walking Trails
Sowia Kopa is a 672-meter-high summit in the Góry Złote. Numerous rock formations and wooded beech slopes define the landscape; residents of Stronie Śląskie like to visit the summit for walks. Sowie Stopnie, a viewpoint at the upper part of a rock escarpment formed from a former gneiss quarry, lies on the slope above Goszów. At Sowia Kopa, rock formations can thus be seen alongside a landscape also shaped by earlier stone extraction.
Municipal hiking trail No. 1, “Wokół Stronia Śląskiego,” is a 7.3-kilometer loop through Stronie Śląskie, Sowia Kopa and Goszów. The stated walking time is about two hours; check the signs locally, as they may change. The Albrecht Marien Weg connects Stronie Śląskie with the village of Młynowiec. It was created in the 19th century as a scenic route over Dział Pass to Stary Gierałtów and is still a walking route today. This provides a contrast between a loop with a specified distance and walking time, and a historic walking trail.
Cycling Routes by Distance and Time
The “Do Lądka-Zdroju” cycling route runs from Stronie Śląskie via Strachocin and Stójków to Lądek-Zdrój. It is 6.3 kilometers long, with a stated cycling time of 45 minutes. The “Pętla Janowej Góry” loop starts and ends in Stronie Śląskie and runs through Stronie Śląskie-Wieś, Janowa Góra, Kletno and Stara Morawa. The stated cycling time for the 15.60 kilometers is two hours.
The western “Pętla Gór Bialskich” cycling route also starts and ends in Stronie Śląskie. It runs through Młynowiec, Dział Pass at 922 meters, Sucha Pass at 1,001 meters, Nowa Morawa, Bolesławów and Stara Morawa. The route is 25.60 kilometers long; the stated cycling time is four hours.
The signposted cycling routes can be compared by distance and cycling time: from 6.3 kilometers and 45 minutes, through 15.60 kilometers and two hours, to 25.60 kilometers and four hours. The routes also differ in form: the route to Lądek-Zdrój leads to a neighboring town, while the other two cycling routes described here start and end in Stronie Śląskie. Nearby, “Pętla Ruda” and its extension, “Pętla Stronie Śląskie,” are among the closest singletracks.
Sports Facilities in Town
Stroński Park Aktywności includes an indoor swimming pool with five lanes and a length of 25 meters. The complex also has a large sports hall with seating for 300 people. Thus, in addition to the trails and landscape features described above, the town offers a swimming pool and a sports hall as concrete sports facilities.
