The Fortress and Access from the Pass
The Srebrna Góra Fortress is a unique cultural heritage site in Europe. The pass is an important landmark for visitors: the car park is there, and a 1 km paved road winds through the forest from the pass to the fortress. The walk along the visitor route takes 15 to 25 minutes. Road and footpath conditions may change, so check the official access information before your visit. The Church and Culture Today
The Evangelical church in Srebrna Góra was built between 1578 and 1592. Today, its interior serves as the Srebrnogórska Przestrzeń Artystyczna, a venue for exhibitions and concerts. Alongside the fortress, visitors can explore a former church space now used for cultural events. Established in 2002, the Forteczny Park Kulturowy aims to protect and revitalize the fortress as a whole, while also taking into account the surrounding landscape’s value. Military and Railway History
Fort Ostróg was built between 1766 and 1771 as an auxiliary fort. It was intended to protect the main fortress, which lies on the other side of the pass. Another prominent landmark is the Srebrnogórski Viaduct, built in 1901 and 28 metres high. The railway line also tells a story of the challenges posed by the terrain. On the Srebrna Góra–Wolibórz section, a rack rail was used to prevent trains from slipping on the steep gradient when travelling uphill. This became the only rack railway in what is now Poland. The fort, viaduct and railway offer different ways to explore the area’s military and transport history.
Walking and Cycling Routes
The “Zębata” educational trail, established in 2002, passes through the mountainous area with the greatest natural and historical value. The enduro trails in Srebrna Góra are part of Strefa MTB Sudety; this affiliation may change if the trails are modified. The former Sowiogórska Railway trackbed has also been preserved. The blue and green hiking trails follow one section of it. These routes bring nature, history and railway remains together in different ways—not every route has the same focus. Check local trail information and conditions before setting out on a specific route.

For a more active focus, the educational trail, enduro routes and hiking trails offer different options.
