Water sports at Zalew Zimna Woda

The 21 ha Zimna Woda reservoir in Łuków is also used for recreation. There is a rental service for plastic kayaks and pedal boats. On the same body of water, the 680 m Zimna Woda water ski lift offers water skiing, wakeboarding and kneeboarding; equipment is also available to rent. The different options give you a clear choice: you can spend time by the water paddling and boating, or enjoy water sports at the lift.

Trails and nature in the Łuków region

Several marked routes offer different ways to find your way around. The Szlak Ziemi Łukowskiej runs through the Łuków municipality. Its 36.9 km red main route is joined by a 3.45 km green local loop and a 5 km blue local loop. These distances can help you take route lengths into account when planning. The blue Szlak Sienkiewiczowski runs through the central part of the Ziemia Łukowska between Łuków and Okrzeja. It is associated with places connected to Henryk Sienkiewicz’s birth and literary work.

The nearby Jata Nature Reserve has a nature trail that can be explored on foot or by bicycle. A 17.5 km yellow cycling route also passes through the protected area, which is home to a nature education trail. The “Ostoja” education hut has a fire pit. Visitors wishing to focus on nature will find both trails and a distinctly educational element at Jata.

Another protected natural area is the Topór Nature Reserve in the Łuków municipality. Established in 1933, this 58.20 ha reserve, which is partially designated for the protection of flora and woodland, protects a natural stand of silver fir. In the wider Łuków region, the Kryńszczak and Las Wagramski forest areas invite visitors to walk and cycle. Museums, art and history

The Muzeum Ziemi Łukowskiej im. Longina Kowalczyka in Łuków has collections on traditional rural weaving and tools for processing flax. Other exhibits include folk sculptures, paper cuttings and agricultural implements from around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Folk paintings and works by Józef Pankiewicz and Leon Wyczółkowski are displayed alongside historical exhibits and photographic documentation of immovable monuments. The collection thus brings together crafts, rural life, art and historical documentation.

In Łuków, the PROwizorium Gallery at the Łukowski Ośrodek Kultury exhibits works by professional and amateur artists. The Łukowski Ośrodek Kultury also stages theatrical performances for children and young people. For a culture-focused trip, the museum, gallery and theatre offer different perspectives, with theatre particularly aimed at younger audiences.

The town’s architectural history includes the former Bernardine monastery complex in Łuków, built intermittently from 1655 to 1770. It comprises a two-towered, single-nave monastery church, now used as a parish church, a bell tower and the former monastery building, now used as a school. In the wider region, the Muzeum Henryka Sienkiewicza in Wola Okrzejska is also named as one of the most important tourist attractions. The regional cultural heritage route Szlak Kultury Wsi i Miasteczek runs through the Ziemia Łukowska; the Szlak Powstań Narodowych passes through areas associated with the battles of the November Uprising of 1831.
