Churches, a palace and historic cityscapes

Several buildings in Lubartów bear the mark of the architect Paweł Antoni Fontana. The Basilica of St Anne was built to his design from 1733 to 1738. The Church of St Lawrence in the Capuchin monastery complex was also designed by Fontana; it is adorned with 18th-century paintings by Szymon Czechowicz. The Pałac Sanguszków was converted into a Baroque palace to a design by Fontana. Together, these examples show how an architect was involved in a wide range of building projects in Lubartów.

The historic cityscape can also be traced at other locations. Some of the buildings dating from the 16th to the 19th century have been preserved around the Rynek. Two brick manor houses from the first half of the 19th century stand on Kościuszki Street. These preserved buildings add examples of historic architecture to the larger churches and palace. If you enjoy comparing individual buildings and different forms of cityscape when choosing a travel destination, Lubartów offers several specific points of interest.

Regional history and culture

The Muzeum Ziemi Lubartowskiej has more than 2,500 exhibits on the history and culture of the region. The collection spans ethnography, history, numismatics and archaeology. This means that, alongside the buildings, objects and collection areas also help you explore regional culture from different perspectives. For your trip planning, this focus complements the city’s architectural impressions.

Another cultural highlight is the chess tournament for the Puchar Lubartowskich Przedsiębiorców. The tournament has been held annually in Lubartów since 2001 and is also dedicated to the memory of Ryszard Czermiński. The competition thus brings together chess and an explicitly named local remembrance.

Cycling in the city and surrounding area

Lubartów has more than 11 kilometres of cycle paths, allowing you to travel from one end of the city to the other. In the surrounding area, cycling tours are offered on routes totalling 136 kilometres in Kozłowiecki Landscape Park. The figures refer to different areas: cycle paths within Lubartów and routes in the nearby park. When planning your trip, you can therefore weigh up whether you are more interested in urban paths or a wider choice of routes in the surrounding area.

If you want architecture and regional history to shape your trip and would also like to include cycling, these interests can help guide your search for a holiday apartment in Lubartów.
