City History: Castle, Tower and Church
Lubsko Castle was already standing in the Middle Ages and features Gothic remains. Today, the building is used by a social welfare institution. Both its medieval history and its current use are part of the character of the place.
Wieża Pachołków Miejskich is the oldest structure in Lubsko to have retained its original form. The brick tower dates from the 15th century. During this period, the city’s fortifications were strengthened by expanding the gate structures. Its circular ground plan and seven storeys give the building a distinctive, clearly defined form; its historical connection to the gates also places it within the city’s fortifications. For visitors interested in historic architecture, the tower offers a tangible connection to the development of the fortifications.
The Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (pw. Nawiedzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny) is the city’s oldest sacred building. Its organ was built in 1918 by Gustaw Heinze of Żary. The church is also connected to musical history: concerts featuring chamber and organ music began there in 1999. There is also a publicly accessible children’s playground by the lake, making it a useful landmark for families planning time with children.

A completed trail runs through Park Miejski in Lubsko and along the Lubsza River. It is designated as a walking trail. The green PTTK route covers a different scale: it is a 73.5-kilometre combined hiking and cycling route that passes through Lubsko. From Lubsko (PKS), it follows a connecting path to Jezioro Głębokie and a recreation centre in Grabówek.
