Accommodation in Bieganów
PTTK Route No. 4 passes through Bieganów, giving the village a specific connection to a named hiking and cycling route. Alongside this is the history of the landscape: Bieganów was part of the area of the once densely forested Puszcza Jaktorowska, which no longer exists today. These are two different perspectives to consider when planning your trip. The route describes a path through the village, while the Puszcza refers to a former landscape. Together, they place Bieganów both on a specific route and within the history of the region.
Route No. 4 through Bieganów
The route connects Żyrardów with Radziejowice and Mszczonów via Międzyborów, Bieganów and Las Radziejowicki. It is about 20 km long. The PTTK route collection includes one-day hiking and cycling trips; Route No. 4 is one of the listed routes. This makes it possible to view Bieganów as part of a named route connecting several places and Las Radziejowicki. If you want to focus on the route, base your research on the entire route rather than just the village name. The route information comes from an older publication; check current conditions before setting out.
The former Puszcza Jaktorowska
Bieganów was one of the villages in the area of the once densely forested Puszcza Jaktorowska. The forest no longer exists today. The Puszcza is therefore a historical landscape reference, not a description of a present-day forest landscape. This distinction in time helps put the village’s history into context: it refers to a former, densely forested landscape, not a present-day forest that defines Bieganów. The dunes within the municipality offer a different connection with nature, understood through their geological origins.
Wydmy Międzyborskie in the municipality
In the western part of Jaktorów Municipality, the Wydmy Międzyborskie protected landscape area covers 31.46 ha. It includes areas in the northern part of Międzyborów. The Wydmy are sandy mounds that formed after the glacier retreated, under Arctic climatic conditions during the last North Polish glaciation, also known as the Baltic glaciation. Here, the focus is on the formation of a sandy landscape, while the Puszcza Jaktorowska represents the area’s earlier forest history. This landscape at the municipal level is at a different spatial scale from the specific route through Bieganów.
An educational trail runs through the Wydmy Międzyborskie and shows distinctive areas of the dunes. These include a 160-year-old Scots pine designated as a natural monument and the 1863 Insurgents’ Cross. Along this trail, geological features, a natural monument and a historic memorial site come together. If you plan to visit this natural area, check current access arrangements beforehand.
Which landscape connection interests you?
Route No. 4 offers a specific route through Bieganów; the Wydmy Międzyborskie present a geological topic at the municipal level. The Puszcza adds a third perspective as a former forest landscape. This distinction can help you choose between a named route, a dune landscape and the historical context of the village as you continue planning.
