Serock brings together traces of the city’s history, waterside activities and a walking trail to river gorges. The layout of the market square preserves traces of the city’s founding; a modern multimedia exhibition covers Serock and its surroundings. The city beach adds a swimming area, sports courts and a water playground to these cultural attractions. When planning your stay, you can decide whether to focus on history, outdoor activities or seasonal offerings. Each place and facility has its own character.

Market Square, City History and Exhibition

The layout of Serock’s market square and the streets running from its corners preserve traces of the beginnings of the city, founded under Kulm law in the 15th century. The market square hosts civic celebrations, bringing together the city’s historic layout and its role as a public space. Izba Pamięci i Tradycji Lokalnych is a museum with a modern multimedia exhibition about the history of Serock and its surroundings. These offer two different ways to explore the past: the market square connects the city’s history to its urban landscape, while the exhibition focuses on Serock and the surrounding area. If you include culture in your travel plans, this combination offers a different focus from the waterside activities.

City Beach and Trails

The city beach is close to the market square and connected to Bulwar Nadnarwiański and a network of walking and cycling trails. It has a swimming area supervised during the holiday season, volleyball and basketball courts, a water playground for children, and a pier. Lifeguard supervision is explicitly limited to the holiday season; take this timing into account when planning a swim. The different facilities make the beach a place for swimming, sports and play. The trail network also offers walking and cycling as options in their own right, alongside time at the beach.

Traces of Different Eras

The western ravelin is among the remains of the Napoleonic fortress in Serock. Its tip is incorporated into the spectator stand of the city stadium at 47 Pułtuska Street. Another historic building complex is the former coaching inn at 13, 15 and 17 Pułtuska Street. The complex was built between 1824 and 1828 in connection with the route running northeast from Warsaw to Kaunas and Saint Petersburg.

The brick Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Kościół pw. Zwiastowania Najświętszej Maryi Panny) also points to a different period: construction began around 1524 (1526), and the church was completed before the end of the 16th century. Together, the church, ravelin and former coaching inn offer different historical points of reference. The church belongs to the architectural history of the 16th century, the coaching inn to that of the 1820s, and the ravelin preserves part of the Napoleonic fortress. Those who want to get to know Serock through its history will find several eras and different kinds of architectural traces.

Walking Trail and Summer Workshops

A walking trail in Serock leads to the river gorges and Plac Litewski. Craft workshops are held there in summer. This gives the trail a different focus from the city beach: here, the riverside destinations and seasonal crafts take centre stage. If you want to include the workshops in your plans, check the specific dates in advance. This lets you take the walk and summer offering into account when planning your trip without assuming a particular event date.
