At a gathering in Krzesławice on August 6, 2022, the open-air exhibition “Czas zamknięty w kadrze. Krzesławice w starej fotografii” was presented. The photographs came from the collections of village residents and their families. They showed past family and religious celebrations as well as scenes of everyday life. Festive occasions were thus displayed alongside ordinary moments, while the photographs themselves came from the lives of people in the village and their families. This combination of subject and provenance gives the retrospective a personal perspective. Dancing, Singing, and Food at the Gathering

At the same gathering, participants learned the fast turns of the Oberek and Polka dances under the guidance of an instructor. The dances were accompanied by Marianna Siwiec, a well-known folk singer from Gałki Rusinowskie. Instruction and singing thus came together in the same part of the program. The village’s history goes back further. A document dated January 25, 1354, refers to Krzesławice as Wola; according to other sources, the name was also Wola Krzesławowa. The two forms point to different documentary contexts: Wola appears in the dated document, while Wola Krzesławowa is attributed to other sources. This distinction is useful for careful historical interpretation, as it keeps the dated name reference separate from the other recorded form.

Another point of reference is a wooden barn at house number 57. It dates from the first quarter of the 20th century, placing it in a much later period than the 1354 name reference. As a type of building, the barn adds an architectural point of reference to the village’s history. The two clues answer different questions: the document records a historical form of the name, while the barn points to rural architectural history from the early 20th century.
