Dzierżenin's ecclesiastical history dates back to the early 13th century: records mention a resident chaplain for the year 1250 and a church of Saint Thomas the Apostle in the 14th century. For visitors interested in church and local history, this long-documented development provides a tangible cultural point of reference. The present-day brick Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle was built between 1910 and 1917 and consecrated in 1925. A parish project describes it as a historic monument and documents a planned renovation as well as planned landscaping of the church grounds.
