Gołkowice: Wooden Church, Manor House and Landscape

The wooden branch church in Gołkowice is dedicated to St John the Baptist and dates from 1767. The Baroque manor house was built in 1750 by Ernest von Goetz and is considered the oldest and largest monument of its kind in the Byczyna municipality. Seventeen years separate the construction of the manor house and the church.

Conical Motte Between Valley and Park

The conical motte lies in the damp valley of the Pratwa, at the edge of the palace park and among wet meadows. It probably once served as a residential and defensive site; possible interpretations include a late-medieval knight’s residence or a local watch post. Its historical classification therefore remains uncertain, unlike that of the precisely dated buildings in the village.
