Discover Ząbrowo: the Nogat and village history

Ząbrowo combines a kayak launch on the Nogat with tangible evidence of the village’s history and manor estate. At Ząbrowo 11A, there was once a village school complex, or elementary school, with classrooms and a kitchen. It is dated to 1934. Its former educational use offers a different perspective from the village’s agricultural buildings: it points to an institution of everyday village life.

The farmstead at Ząbrowo 26 is a long, linear farmstead dating from 1899. The building at Ząbrowo 15 was formerly a stable on Albert Reihs’s large farm and was converted for residential use.

Homes, manor house and domestic chapel

The former commercial and private uses of individual houses are also part of the stories handed down about them. The Haase/Janke general store was formerly located in the building at Ząbrowo 21. The residential building at Ząbrowo 45 dates from around 1890.

The building at Ząbrowo 30 is part of the area around the destination. It was formerly the manor house of a Chełmno landholding and, before 1945, the residence of the Reihs family, the wealthiest family in the surrounding area. The manor house dates from around 1890. There is also a domestic chapel at Ząbrowo 30. Before 1945, it was associated with Albert Reihs’s home; it dates from the late 19th century and is now a public property.
