Discover Rzucewo: Museum and Hiking Trails
Accommodation in Rzucewo
Explore Rzucewo through its culture and trails: the “Chata kaszubska” Museum features a permanent exhibition on the history of archaeological research and another exhibition about the lives of fishers. There is also a blue-marked hiking trail that passes through Rzucewo. Culture and hiking thus offer different starting points for planning your trip.
“Chata kaszubska” Museum
Admission to the Osada Łowców Fok in Rzucewo includes a visit to the “Chata kaszubska” Museum. The permanent exhibition covers the history of archaeological research; another exhibition focuses on the lives of fishers. You can explore two distinct themes: the study of archaeological traces and the lives of people whose livelihoods were connected with fishing. If you are interested in both, you can plan to visit them together. Admission details may change, so check the latest information before your visit.
Hiking Trails and Stone Age Traces
The blue-marked Krawędzią Kępy Puckiej hiking trail is 34 kilometres long. It passes through Puck, Rozgard, Osada neolityczna, Rzucewo, Osłonino, the Beka Nature Reserve, Mrzezino, Połchowo and Rekowo Dolne, before reaching the forests of Wejherowo. Rzucewo is one of the places along a route that takes in several locations and the Beka Nature Reserve. The trail’s overall length puts it on a different scale from a single museum visit and may help you decide what to focus on when planning your trip.
Reconstructed Stone Age objects along the Szlakiem łowców fok trail in Rzucewo offer another connection to the past. They provide a different way to explore historical themes than the museum exhibitions. Trail conditions may change, so check the latest information before setting out.
Nature in the Wider Puck Destination
Looking beyond Rzucewo to the wider Puck destination, you will find other nature reserves with a variety of features. The Beka Nature Reserve is a bird sanctuary of European standing. Almost 200 bird species occur in the reserve and its immediate surroundings, including more than 40 breeding species. The area is located in the municipality of Puck.
Bielawa is also located in the municipality of Puck. This protected Baltic-type raised bog is distinguished by its characteristic vegetation and serves as a refuge for water and marsh birds. There is an observation tower in the Bielawa Nature Reserve. The raised bog, its vegetation and birdlife offer a different natural focus from the Beka bird sanctuary.
Another landscape protection area in the wider Puck destination is Dolina Chłapowska in Władysławowo. The valley is outstanding for its landscape, is about half a kilometre long, deeply incised and more than 40 metres deep in places. Its distinctive features add a striking valley landscape to the area’s natural attractions. These examples broaden the focus beyond Rzucewo’s cultural and hiking themes, without suggesting that they are located in Rzucewo.
