Witkowo: Hotels and Accommodation

Witkowo was first mentioned in a document in 1282. In it, the Pomeranian prince Mściwoj II, son of Świętopełk II Wielki, confirmed his father's endowment in favor of St. Stanisław's Church in Gardna.

History

The historic townscape includes Witkowo's Protestant cemetery. It is no longer in use, dates from the mid-19th century, and has no surviving gravestones. About 30 percent of the tree cover remains; the cemetery is also listed in the heritage conservation register.

Until 1830, Witkowo, Wierzchocino, and Siecie shared a single school. It was located halfway between the three villages on the site of the former royal administrative district of “Amt Ramow.” The school in Witkowo burned down in a fire in 1881. A new school building was erected about 200 meters northwest of the former school's site. After the Second World War, the settlement of Vietkow was renamed Witkowo.

Around 1784, Witkowo had 15 farmsteads following the arrival of settlers. For 1939, 46 agricultural holdings are recorded: 17 with 0.5 to 5 ha, 10 with 5 to 10 ha, 12 with 10 to 20 ha, and 7 with 20 to 100 ha.

Nature

Plaża Rowy beach is located in the vicinity of Witkowo. Rowokół Hill is nearby. Słowiński National Park is also located in the vicinity. In the wider surrounding region are Plaża Dębina beach and Plaża Łeba beach.

There are two public transport stops in Witkowo on road 1123G: WITKOWO 05 at kilometer 18+870 and WITKOWO 28 at kilometer 18+940.

Cycling

For the connection between Wierzchocino and Główczyce, which has not yet been completed, a detour via Witkowo to DW 213 is planned along route R-10, also known as EuroVelo 10.
