Rudno is one of the oldest settlements in the region and was the seat of a castellan with a fortified castle.

Culture and History

In 1229, a document transferred Rudno to the Cistercians of Oliwa; the castellan Pantinus is named in it as a witness. The former Protestant church in Rudno was built in 1796 (alternatively 1817) and destroyed in 1945. The Chapel of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was built in 1982–1983 on the southern side, partly on the foundations of the former church. In 1648, Rudno had two mills.

Townscape

Rudno has a well-preserved settlement structure that is considered worthy of preservation and protection. The church tower stands beside the present-day Roman Catholic chapel; within the historic settlement structure, it serves as an architectural landmark.
