Rumia offers several different reasons to stay: protected nature, scenic views and outdoor activities, as well as places connected to the city's history. If you are looking for a hotel in Rumia, you can first decide whether to focus on valley trails, exhibitions or a stay timed to coincide with concerts. Valley trails and a waterside park
The Dolina Zagórskiej Strugi Nature Reserve includes areas within Rumia. It protects the Zagórska Struga, the trout living in it, and old beech and oak trees on the slopes. The city announced the designation of the reserve in November 2025. A hiking trail leads into the Zagórska Struga Valley. You can walk along the stream from Kamienna Street in Szmelta towards the forest. In the nature reserve, you may only walk on designated paths.
Another place for a stroll is Starowiejski Park, between Starowiejska and Mickiewicza streets. Its main attractions include the pond and the footpath and cycle path running along the Zagórska Struga. The park thus focuses on the water and a route for pedestrians and cyclists, while the hiking trail into the valley leads through the nature reserve along its designated paths.
Views and trails for active outings
Góra Markowca has an observation tower, a zip line, a playground and a climbing wall with routes of varying difficulty. From the observation tower, you can see across the city from an elevation of more than 112 metres above sea level. This sets the site apart from the footpath and cycle path connections described above: here, the focus is on the views and specific facilities.
Another footpath and cycle path runs along Żwirki-i-Wigury Street in Rumia. When planning your time here, you can choose between a place with an observation tower and leisure facilities, a waterside park trail, and a route along a named street.
Exhibitions and historic sites
The Muzeum Miasta Rumi is located in the basement rooms of Stacja Kultura. The city reported its opening in 2025. The exhibits include the skeleton of the “oldest resident of Rumia,” coins from the ruins of a Cistercian church, and documents and photographs about life in the post-war period. Free access to the history room can be arranged by email.
Another historic site is a restored 19th-century manor house, which is home to the Miejski Dom Kultury. Its “Z dziejów ziemi” exhibition includes the skeleton of a woman who lived 2,000 years ago and was found during archaeological excavations in Rumia. Check the current visitor arrangements before planning your visit. Rumia is also home to the ruins of a medieval church, surrounded by a historic cemetery.
Concerts and dates
The recurring events calendar includes the Międzynarodowy Festiwal Muzyki Religijnej im. ks. St. Ormińskiego, held in October. The Letnie Koncerty Organowe take place in July and August. In 2024, one concert in this summer series was held at the Sanktuarium Najświętszej Maryi Panny Wspomożenia Wiernych in Rumia.
