Castle, Market Square and Industrial History
The Castle of the Sułkowski Dukes is the oldest and largest historic building in the historic city of Bielsko-Biała. For more than two centuries, it served as one of the residences of the Piast Dukes of Cieszyn. The medieval street layout of the market square preserves townhouses dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The Polish Theatre building was constructed in 1890 and has a richly decorated, restored interior. The reception building of Bielsko-Biała Główna railway station also dates from 1890; its main hall features restored Pompeian polychrome decorations. The theatre and railway station thus offer two different examples of the architecture of that year.
The Weaver’s House is located in Górne Przedmieście, which had existed since the first half of the 15th century and was inhabited by cloth makers from Bielsko. Its permanent exhibition recreates the home and workshop of a guild master cloth maker. After many years of conservation and reconstruction work, the Weaver’s House opened to visitors in 1992. The Stara Fabryka Museum is housed in the buildings of a former cloth and woollen goods factory, which had been in operation since 1887. In 2006, the museum was added to the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship. Together with the Weaver’s House, it offers a look at two different aspects of cloth production: the home and workshop of a guild master and the buildings of a former factory.
Mountain Biking, Hiking and Views
Enduro Trails Bielsko-Biała is a network of uphill or one-way mountain bike singletracks. The routes have different levels of difficulty, ranging from easy descents to technically challenging downhill tracks. As a specific example, the blue flow trails Rock'N'Rolla and Twister are more than 11 kilometres long combined. Routes and lengths may be updated, so check the latest conditions before riding.
There are 16 mountain hiking trails in Bielsko-Biała, with a total length of 81 kilometres. Trail information may change, so it is worth checking the current routes before setting out. By comparison, the Enduro Trails network describes its selection in terms of mountain bike routes and difficulty levels, while the hiking trails are listed by number and total length. These are different points of reference for planning active days.
The cable car to Szyndzielnia runs along a 1,810-metre route. Next to the upper cable car station is an observation tower with an 18-metre-high viewing platform and a telescope with 25x magnification. The “Stara Stacja” restaurant is housed in the former upper cable car station. The cable car route, observation tower and named restaurant are therefore useful reference points for a visit to Szyndzielnia.
The Dębowiec Centre includes a 610-metre ski slope and a nature trail with six information boards. It offers two different activities side by side: a route for winter sports and a trail presenting nature topics through information boards.
Getting Around the City
BWA Bielsko Gallery is about a ten-minute walk from Bielsko-Biała Główna and PKS stations. Allow around ten minutes; actual walking time may vary. This estimated journey time is a specific point of reference for visiting the gallery, not for other routes in the city.
Silesia as the Wider Destination

The Beskids in Silesia are also home to Lake Żywieckie and Lake Międzybrodzkie, artificial reservoirs used for water sports and other water-based recreational activities.

The route includes restaurants serving traditional regional dishes; membership requires the “Śląskie Smaki” certificate, which confirms the quality and regional authenticity of the dishes.
