The Castle and Park as a Starting Point

The castle is an aristocratic residence in Poland, known for its remarkable interiors. The castle and park complex itself also holds a special place in history: in 2005, it was declared a Polish Historic Monument. So a visit is about more than individual exhibits; it also offers a chance to see how the residence and parkland come together.

An area of the historic park is laid out in the English landscape style. Free-flowing paths wind between expansive lawns, while a variety of trees and shrubs shape the scenery. The design and mature trees have been preserved to this day. If you’re interested in gardens, the park offers a different way to experience the castle complex than the interiors do: the park’s design and heritage trees are themselves part of its history.

Collections and Special Visitor Interests

The castle complex includes a collection of historic horse-drawn carriages. They are displayed in the museum’s stables and coach house, and the collection is connected with the Potocki family’s residence. This adds another aspect of the residence’s history to the story told by the interiors. The Łańcucka Trasa Turystyczna also takes visitors to historic landmarks in Łańcut, including Maneż, Synagoga, Kościół Farny and Ratusz.

The orchid house offers a different perspective. The exhibition house is open to tourists and displays numerous orchid species and varieties. Particularly impressive plants are presented during the flowering season. The cultivation area is not open to visitors. If you’re interested in plants, the exhibition is therefore the place to focus on the orchids on display.

Local History and Visit Planning

The local history department in the former officers’ casino presents everyday life in the local community from the late 19th century to the first half of the 20th century. This historical period differs markedly from the history of the residence and the collections in the castle complex. It’s another way to get to know Łańcut through the life of its community in a later era.

The Museum of Distillery Industry can be visited by prior telephone appointment at 693290077. If you’re planning a visit, it’s best to confirm the details in advance. The Tourist Information Centre is located at ul. 3 Maja 15 and can be reached at 795 204 210.
