Odrzykoń lies on the border between the Doły Jasielsko-Sanockie and Pogórze Dynowskie. The Królewska and Sucha Góra mountain massifs shape the surrounding landscape. One way to explore the history of the village is the “Śladami krzyży i kapliczek w Odrzykoniu” (“Following the Traces of Crosses and Chapels in Odrzykoń”) walking and cycling trail. Its two variants differ in length and in the number of roadside chapels, so you can decide on the focus of your visit as you plan.

A Trail of Crosses and Chapels

The trail was established in 2008 at the initiative of the Stowarzyszenie Odrzykoniaków. Its purpose is to introduce residents and visitors to the history of roadside crosses and chapels. The route combines movement through the landscape with an insight into local history. Information boards at the chapels tell their stories. You can therefore see each stop not just as a point along the route, but also learn about the chapels you pass along the way.

Two Variants, Different Route Lengths

The shorter, blue variant passes 11 roadside chapels. The longer, yellow variant is about 17 kilometres long and passes 22 roadside chapels. It also includes chapels in more distant parts of the village, in the Czarnorzecko-Strzyżowski Landscape Park and in Podbratkówka. These details show the difference in scope: blue denotes the shorter route, while yellow includes more roadside chapels and a wider itinerary. The approximate length is a guide for planning.

Starting Point and Finding Your Way

Both variants begin at the Muzeum Wsi in Odrzykoń. An information board there features a trail map and descriptions of the chapels. At the starting point, you can get an overview of the route and use the chapel descriptions to help you find your way. Additional information boards at the roadside chapels tell their stories. The board at the start and those along the trail thus serve different purposes: one helps you understand the route as a whole; the others provide information about individual chapels.

Which Route Variant Fits Your Plans?

The main consideration is the kind of route you want. If you are looking for a shorter option, the blue route with its 11 roadside chapels is the direct comparison. You can assess the yellow variant by its approximate length of 17 kilometres and its 22 chapels. Its additional route through more distant parts of the village, the landscape park and Podbratkówka is also part of its greater scope. Check local conditions before setting out and plan according to the route you choose.

Landscape and Regional Context

Its location between the Doły Jasielsko-Sanockie and Pogórze Dynowskie gives Odrzykoń a distinct landscape setting. Królewska and Sucha Góra shape the surroundings, while the Chapel Trail brings local history to life at specific stops. Nearby, Zamek Kamieniec is located close to the Prządki Nature Reserve.

Getting to the Trail Access Point

The nearest PKS bus stop is at the Dom Kultury in Odrzykoń, 50 metres from the trail access point. If you plan to travel by bus, check the current timetable before setting off. For finding your way along the trail, the Muzeum Wsi is the starting point for both variants; you will find the trail map and chapel descriptions there.
