Cycling: two routes of different lengths

The green cycling route passes through Łętownia railway station, Babiarze, Gościniec, Łętownia and Majdan Łętowski. It starts and ends in Nowa Sarzyna, is 26 kilometres long and takes about two and a half hours. This gives both the route length and an approximate timeframe for planning. The place names make the route easier to picture than a distance alone; the journey time remains an estimate.

The red cycling route also starts and ends in Nowa Sarzyna. It passes through Kołacznia, the Pontic Azalea Reserve and Wola Zarczycka. It is 31 kilometres long and takes about three hours. Compared with the green route, that adds five kilometres and about half an hour. When weighing up the two routes, you can use these specific differences in distance and time as a guide.

Kayaking: a separate timeframe

The kayak route runs from the car park at the market square in Nowa Sarzyna to the kayak landing stage in Sarzyna. It is about five kilometres long and takes approximately two hours. Based on the stated journey times, it is the shortest of the three routes described: around two hours by kayak, compared with about two and a half hours on the green cycling route and about three hours on the red one. For planning, you can first consider which type of activity you prefer, then weigh up the approximate timeframe that suits you.

Pontic azalea in the municipality

Outside the town of Nowa Sarzyna, in the hamlet of Kołacznia near Wola Zarczycka, there is a natural occurrence of Pontic azalea, also known as yellow azalea. It is considered the only occurrence in Europe outside Volhynia and Polesia. Its golden-yellow flowers in May attract many tourists and give this nature feature a clear seasonal focus. The reserve is also a named point on the red cycling route, linking route planning with a distinctive natural feature in the municipality.

Basket weaving as a regional tradition

Basket weaving is a long-established craft in the municipality. Entire families in the villages practise it, and the weaving skills are passed down from generation to generation. Alongside the cycling and kayaking routes with their stated distances, this brings a cultural tradition into focus: active days and regional craft history can appeal to different, complementary interests when choosing a destination. The way the craft is passed on within families and villages gives basket weaving a clear community connection.
