Discover Sieniawa through several themes: a palace and park complex with a history dating back to the early 18th century, Christian and Jewish places of remembrance, and a green Nordic walking loop. This combination makes the town interesting to visitors with different travel interests. It offers concrete themes to choose from when planning your trip: architectural and family history, religious heritage, garden design, and exercise.

Sieniawa Palace and Park Complex

Sieniawa’s palace and park complex includes a masonry palace built between 1720 and 1726 and a romantic park. The complex was formerly a residence of the Czartoryski family. This brings together a clearly dated construction period and a former residential function. The dates place the palace in time, while the history of its use as a residence adds the complex’s former role to its architectural history. For those interested in architecture, the palace offers a clearly dated point of reference. The park adds a designed landscape to the architectural theme, giving the palace complex a second, scenic dimension.

Monastery Complex and Parish Church

Another historical highlight is the Dominican Observant monastery complex. It was built from 1719 to 1751, destroyed during the First World War, and rebuilt from 1918 to 1923. Today, the complex serves as a Roman Catholic parish. The sequence of construction, wartime destruction, and reconstruction reveals a distinct transformation of the complex. The remains of 22 members of the princely Czartoryski family lie in the crypt in the southern part of the parish church. The family’s history is therefore present not only in its former residence but also in a separate connection with the parish church.

Jewish Cemetery and Access

The Jewish cemetery dates to an earlier period: it was established in the second half of the 17th century, making it older than the construction phases of the palace and monastery complex. Around 700 gravestones bearing Hebrew inscriptions remain on the 0.9-hectare site. The cemetery thus adds Sieniawa’s Jewish history to the town’s religious and aristocratic history. Bear the access conditions in mind when planning your visit: the cemetery is not always accessible, and a resident of Sieniawa has the keys to the gates. Check locally in advance whether a visit is possible.

Garden and Nordic Walking Route

The garden in Sieniawa is distinguished by its striking garden design, mature trees, and numerous vistas. Its design is a distinct highlight alongside the architectural histories of the palace and monastery complex: composition, trees, and sightlines shape the character of the garden. If you would also like to include some exercise in your stay, you can plan to follow the green Nordic walking route No. 19. It is a 5.8-kilometre loop that starts at the Zespół Szkół school in Sieniawa. Its colour, route number, length, and starting point provide specific details to help you plan. If needed, check the local signs before setting off.
