Neogothic Architecture and Church History

The historic Neogothic church was built in 1895. A stone above the main entrance attests to the year of construction. The architectural style, date and tower each offer a different clue about the building: while its Neogothic design indicates its architectural classification, the stone marks the year of construction on a specific part of the church. The tall tower stands out as a landmark in the village.

The church’s furnishings are also stylistically unified and display Neogothic features. They include a main altar, two side altars, a pulpit, a stone baptismal font, an organ and pews. At the left side altar are an image of the Merciful Jesus and a figure of Our Lady of Fatima; the right side altar features an image of Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn. The building also has a wooden roof structure with a purlin-and-collar-beam design, decorated with polychromy. Two bells hang in the tower: one bears the date 1895, while the other dates from 1973. The year 1895 is thus associated both with the construction of the church and with one of its bells; the second bell adds a later date, 1973.

The church’s history also comprises several distinct stages. It remained in Protestant hands until 1983, after which it was leased by the Protestant community. In 1994, it passed into the ownership of the Catholic community. This sequence distinguishes the period in Protestant hands, the subsequent lease and the later transfer of ownership.

Sacred Garden, Cycling Route and Walking Paths

Another cultural site in Użranki is the sacred garden. The municipality reported that it was completed in 2025. At its centre are life-size sculptures of Saints Peter and Paul.
