Nidzica was known as Neidenburg for several hundred years. On December 7, 1381, Grand Master Winrich von Kniprode granted the town its charter. St. Wojciech Church was built in the second half of the 14th century in the Baltic Gothic style and incorporated into Nidzica’s urban defense system. It is located in the western part of the town.
