Market square, church, and medieval street plan

The old town preserves a medieval street plan with the market square at its centre. The late Gothic Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord stands right beside it and is one of the oldest surviving buildings in Drawsko Pomorskie. It was built at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries; its tower is 75 metres high. The pointed-arch side portals feature distinctive bestiary depictions. Together, the market square and the church’s notable features offer a clear connection to the historic town plan.

The fortification walls also tell the story of the town’s development: construction began in the early 14th century. They had four defensive towers and were reinforced by bastions. The dates place the start of the walls’ construction before the late Gothic church was built. Together with the market square and the preserved street plan, they provide a tangible setting for tracing Drawsko Pomorskie’s medieval history through its townscape.

Park and cycling routes with different route profiles

Fryderyk Chopin City Park was established in 1875 and extends from a bend in the Drawa River. Its origins and connection to the river add another aspect of the town beyond its medieval history. When planning your trip, you can therefore consider the historic town layout, church, and fortifications alongside a park with a history of its own.

Three cycling routes offer a clear comparison in terms of length and course. The red “Wokół jeziora Lubie” route is 50 kilometres long and starts and ends in Drawsko Pomorskie. The blue “Wzgórza Moreny Czołowej” circular cycling route covers 58 kilometres, also starts in the town, and passes through terminal and ground moraine landscapes shaped by the Ice Age. The green “Parki Krajobrazowe” route is 27.2 kilometres long and runs from Drawsko Pomorskie to Ińsko; along the way, it connects Iński Landscape Park with Drawski Landscape Park.

The two cycling routes that start and end in Drawsko differ from the green route, which ends in Ińsko. Their lengths also vary: 27.2, 50, and 58 kilometres. These details help distinguish circular routes from a route with a different endpoint. As route information may change, it is advisable to check the relevant route again before setting out.

Hiking trails around Drawsko and in the wider destination of Dramburg

Close to Drawsko Pomorskie, the green “Jezior Drawskich” hiking trail loops around the town. It passes through moraine hills and river valleys and runs along a chain of lakes in the Drawskie Lake District. Hiking therefore complements the cycling routes with views of the landscape, particularly the lakes and rivers along the green circular trail.

The wider destination of Dramburg has two hiking trails connected with Drawsko Pomorskie. The black “Drawskich grodzisk wczesnośredniowiecznych” trail starts and ends in Drawsko Pomorskie and is 67 kilometres long. The blue “im. I Warszawskiej Dywizji Kawalerii” trail follows the Wał Pomorski fortification line for 52 kilometres, starting in Iłowiec and ending in Drawsko Pomorskie. Also in the wider destination of Dramburg is the black “Rzeka Brzeźnicka Węgorza – wodospady” cycling trail: it starts and ends at Drawsko Pomorskie railway station, is 39 kilometres long, and takes 2–3 hours. These routes are regional additions; they do not change the fact that the local cycling routes mentioned above each have their own courses and endpoints.

For road access, National Road 20 passes through Drawsko Pomorskie and connects Stargard with Szczecinek.
