Zastań combines a water-rich landscape with natural and cultural topics that can be clearly distinguished when planning your stay. The locality is home to the “Zastańczyk” pedunculate oak, protected as a natural monument, while the planning area is characterised by Natura 2000 sites, wetlands and its proximity to the Dziwna River. In addition, there is a registered archaeological site, insights into the history of oil production in the surrounding area and an outdoor fitness facility installed in 2025.
“Zastańczyk” Pedunculate Oak and Protected Landscape
The “Zastańczyk” pedunculate oak is located in Zastań and is protected as a natural monument because of its natural-history, scientific and landscape value. Its trunk circumference is 522 cm, measured at a height of 1.3 metres.
For nature enthusiasts, the protected “Zastańczyk” pedunculate oak is a specific point of reference within the locality of Zastań.
The surroundings of Zastań also have a special connection to protected areas and the landscape. The planning area in Zastań lies within the Natura 2000 sites Zalew Kamieński i Dziwna (PLB320011) and Ujście Odry i Zalew Szczeciński (PLH320018). To the east of the planning area are the Dziwna River and adjacent wetlands and reed beds.
Bodies of Water and the Landscape of Wolin Municipality
The larger landscape becomes visible at the level of Wolin Municipality. Its tourist resources include the waters of the Zalew Szczeciński, the Dziwna River, Jezioro Koprowo, the Pojezierze Wolińskie, the lakes Ostrowo and Piaski, and the waters of the Baltic Sea. This landscape is complemented by forest complexes, including the forests of Woliński Park Narodowy, a varied landscape, existing tourist trails, and road, rail and water connections. Bodies of water account for 21% of the municipality’s area.
Another specific connection with the water is found along the lower course of the Lewieńska Struga. There, the watercourse between Jezioro Kołczewo and the Zalew Kamieński has been regulated and deepened.
Archaeology and the History of Oil Production
Zastań’s past is also linked to specific places and dates. The registered archaeological site Zastań, site 2, is located in the AZP area 18-07/6.
The regional history also includes the Ośrodek Produkcyjny Zastań oil production centre of the Kamień Pomorski oil field. It is located on Wolin Island, north of Zastań in the direction of the Zalew Kamieński. Oil deposits in the vicinity of Kamień Pomorski were discovered in 1972 in the formations of the Main Dolomite. For geographical orientation, it is also important that access to the Ośrodek Produkcyjny Zastań is only possible with prior permission from PGNiG.
Outdoor Fitness Facility in Zastań
In 2025, Zastań was equipped with an outdoor fitness facility. Its equipment includes a horizontal and a vertical ladder, a bench, a pull-up bar with handles and gymnastic rings. An information board with rules of use was also installed there. The year remains part of the classification: what is documented is the equipment installed in 2025, not any further statement about operation, use or availability.
