Town History and Church Art
The present-day town hall was built in 1697 in the Baroque style using half-timbered construction. Both its complete building form and the architectural design of its façades have been preserved. The building thus brings together two tangible aspects of local history: its construction and its preserved design. The history of the Church of the Assumption of Mary also reaches far back. After a fire in 1692, its tower and roof were rebuilt in 1693. Inside is a Baroque altar dating from 1704. The church also hosts art exhibitions, organ concerts and choir performances. Architectural history and cultural events sit side by side here, without requiring you to limit your visit to a single focus.
Another landmark in the town’s history is St. Hubertus Church in Karszno, at the entrance to Nowe Warpno. It was probably built in the second half of the 18th century; the year 1793 is inscribed on the weather vane of its small tower. Weddings and painting exhibitions are held there occasionally.
Palace, Lake and Peninsula
At the entrance to Nowe Warpno, on the shore of Lake Nowe Warpno, stands a palace in the French Neo-Renaissance style. A historic park surrounds the building. From the palace windows, you can see Lake Nowe Warpno, the Nowe Warpno Peninsula and Riether Werder Island. Architecture and landscape come together here: the palace provides a distinctive architectural feature, while the view brings the lake, peninsula and island together in one panorama.
There are several described routes for walking or cycling. In 2015, the municipality opened a half-kilometre-long promenade as a walking route along the southern shore of the Nowe Warpno Peninsula. A 3.41-kilometre cycle path runs along an old railway embankment from ul. Polna to provincial road 114, ul. Szczecińska. Their different lengths and types of route help you distinguish between the two options: one is a walking route on the peninsula, the other a cycle route with named endpoints. Another route passes through Nowe Warpno and connects the town with additional stops in the Puszcza Wkrzańska area.
Culture and Seasonal Connections
Local traditions are also part of what defines Nowe Warpno. The 23rd Święto Leszcza (Bream Festival) took place on 22 August 2026 as part of a project to promote local fishing traditions and the cultural heritage of the local community. At this edition, exhibitors could present local products, handicrafts and regional produce. A seasonal ferry connection also links Nowe Warpno with Altwarp in Germany. Church events, local traditions and the seasonal connection each offer a different focus when planning your stay.
