When planning a trip to Włoszczowa, you can choose from several areas of interest: marked trails for walking, cycling and horseback riding, as well as city history and sacred art. The green Nordic walking route No. 1 is about 6.4 km long; the market square is associated with historic memorials. A museum of sacred art adds to the cultural attractions. Which of these experiences interests you most can influence your search for a hotel, holiday apartment or holiday home, and your choice of location.

Marked Trails Around Włoszczowa

The green Nordic walking route No. 1 starts and ends at the car park behind the Church of the Assumption of Mary in Włoszczowa. It is about 6.4 km long. This clearly identifies both the starting point and the approximate route length—useful details if you would like to include this route in your day’s plans.

For cyclists, the “Lasami dookoła Włoszczowy” route, named after Bogusław Chowaniec, passes through the most interesting and scenic surroundings of Włoszczowa. It runs mainly through forest areas. Another, black-marked cycle route leads from Włoszczowa to Konieczno. It starts in the market square and connects along the way with the “Lasami wokół Włoszczowy” cycle route.

A bridleway also starts in Włoszczowa: its starting point is at the end of Wiejska Street, by a footbridge over the Czarna Struga. It ends at the forester’s lodge in Wola Świdzińska. In 2014, three Nordic walking routes were created and signposted in the Włoszczowa municipality. The different routes offer specific options if you would like to focus your trip on Nordic walking, cycling or horseback riding.

The Market Square and City History

Włoszczowa’s market square was established in 1539. That year, Hieronim Szafraniec received the founding charter and, with it, town rights for Włoszczowa from King Zygmunt I Stary. The creation of the square is therefore directly connected with this historic event.

The market square is also home to a historic statue of Saint Florian. It was erected in the 19th century after a series of city fires. Another historic site is Kopiec św. Jana: the mound is about 5 metres high and has a truncated-cone shape, with a figure of Saint John of Nepomuk at its summit. At the foot of the mound, archaeologists discovered the remains of a 16th-century bridge. Together, these sites offer ways to explore the city’s history during your stay.

Sacred Art and Historic Buildings

The Church of the Assumption of Mary contains numerous commemorative plaques and epitaphs, including one in memory of Mikołaj Małachowski. If you are interested in sacred art and historic memorials, you can combine this visit with a trip to the Museum of Sacred Art.

The museum is located in the presbytery of the WNMP parish in Włoszczowa. It is open by prior arrangement with the person in charge, Teresa Orlikowska. The historic presbytery is a 19th-century building that has been renovated from the basement to the attic. The art collection and the building offer two different perspectives on the area: sacred objects in the museum and the history of the presbytery itself.

A Trip Towards Łachów

Another destination nearby is the KLEKOT reservoir. From Włoszczowa, it can be reached towards Łachów via a signposted asphalt road. If you plan this trip, you can make it a separate focus alongside the trails and historic sites in town.

Choosing Suitable Accommodation

When looking for accommodation, first consider what you would like your stay to focus on. If you plan to explore the marked trails, their respective starting and ending points are important landmarks; if you are interested in cultural history, include the market square, church and presbytery in your plans. Then check which location suits the routes and visits you have in mind.
