Konin combines historic buildings with the riverside setting of the Warta and a large city park. When planning your trip, you can focus on different things: architecture and city history, paths along the river, or time surrounded by greenery.

Historic places in Konin
The Muzeum Okręgowe w Koninie is based in the Gothic castle in Gosławice. Bishop Andrzej Łaskarz herbu Godziemba had it built in 1426. The museum’s permanent exhibitions cover the history of Konin, Judaica and the prehistory of the Konin region. The castle and exhibitions bring together a specific historic place and several topics relating to the city and its region.
The town hall represents a different period of architecture: the Neoclassical building was constructed between 1796 and 1803. Every day at noon, the “Hejnał Miasta Konina” is played from the tower. If you want to take the time into account when planning your visit, check locally.
The former synagogue dates from 1832. In its main hall, original paintings—partly reconstructed—have been preserved on the eastern wall and on four columns. The building is not open to visitors. Its history can therefore be distinguished from the places you can plan to visit as accessible exhibitions.
The former country house of Zofia Urbanowska is also in the Old Town. Built in the Neoclassical style in the mid-19th century, it was the writer’s home from 1910 until her death in 1939. Dom Zemełki, meanwhile, is the Old Town’s oldest brick residential building and dates from around the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries—that is, the transition from the 16th to the 17th century. Together, these buildings illustrate different periods of the city’s history, without equating their historical functions.
The Warta River waterfront and walking routes
The Bulwar Nadwarciański is a riverside promenade in the Old Town, just under one kilometre long, along the Warta. It features viewing terraces, two amphitheatres, a passenger boat landing, a river marina and walking paths. The boulevard is also part of the Szlak Wielkiej Pętli Wielkopolski. These features give the waterfront different points of interest: walking paths and terraces sit alongside facilities for events and activities on the river.
In Konin, the Szlak Bursztynowy follows a nine-kilometre route along Świętojańska, Wał Tarejwy, Kościelna, Plac Wolności, Warszawska, Dworcowa, Kolejowa, Torowa and Leśna streets. Check route conditions before your trip. This route and the shorter riverside promenade offer two different kinds of routes; take care not to confuse their stated lengths.
Chopin Park
Park im. Fryderyka Chopina is in the western part of the Old Town, covers just under ten hectares and was established in 1843. It adds a green urban setting to the historic places and the Warta waterfront. Animals living in the park include alpacas, African ostriches, emus, goats, wild boar, donkeys, ponies and fallow deer. The species kept there may change over time. If you want to plan your days around different experiences, you can treat the park, waterfront and historic buildings as separate points of interest.
The wider Konin travel destination
The wider Konin travel destination also encompasses places and topics outside the city. In Licheń Stary stands Poland’s largest church, built between 1994 and 2004. In terms of the number of pilgrims, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Licheń is Poland’s second-largest religious cult centre after Jasna Góra. These regional facts should be distinguished from the attractions in the city of Konin.
