The Bernardine Church was built in the 17th century and designed by Krzysztof Bonadura the Elder. The market square and the adjoining streets also tell the story of the town’s development: they form the oldest part of the town and are protected as historic monuments because the original street layout has been preserved. A walk through this area brings together the town’s layout and individual buildings, rather than focusing on just one building.
The Muzeum Zamek Opalińskich is housed in a rebuilt wing of the former castle. The sarcophagi of the Opaliński family can be seen there; exhibitions of painting, sculpture and photography are also held regularly. As individual exhibition programs may change, it is worth checking the current program before visiting the museum. Another public artwork is the mural on Kowalska Street: it is dedicated to the 1,050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland and combines local elements with a reference to the baptism of Mieszko I.
Hiking trails and landscape
Sieraków lies in the heart of Sierakowski Landscape Park, which stretches between Międzychód, Kwilcz and Chrzypsko Wielkie. Its landscape includes moraine hills, river valleys, lake channels and part of the Puszcza Notecka forest. This variety is also reflected in the hiking routes, whose lengths and courses are easy to compare.
The yellow- and black-marked Sieraków–Kukułka–Błota hiking trail starts in Sieraków and is 14.9 kilometers long in total. From this trail, you can view Lake Kłosowskie. The lake is mostly surrounded by forest; its varied, mostly high shoreline features several peninsulas. There are two wooded islands in the lake. They and the adjacent waters are part of the strict Czaple Wyspy Reserve.
The blue-marked Sieraków–Bucharzewo hiking trail is a shorter option at 6.3 kilometers. It runs roughly parallel to the Warta River, at some distance from it. At 6.3 kilometers, this route is shorter than the 14.9-kilometer Sieraków–Kukułka–Błota hiking trail.
Water, wakeboarding and horse riding
The seasonal WakePark Sieraków is located on Lake Jaroszewskie. Its two-tower lift is suitable for both beginners and experienced wakeboarders. On the Warta River, the marina and riverbank in Sieraków serve as a place for tourists to launch and moor boats. This offers different ways to enjoy the water: wakeboarding on the lake, and launching or mooring boats on the Warta.
Lifeguards are scheduled to supervise the municipal bathing beach, “Plaża Miejska nad Jeziorem Jaroszewskim,” seasonally from July 1 to August 31. If the bathing beach is part of your plans, check before visiting whether this schedule applies to your travel dates. Equestrian sports are also part of what the town offers: Stado Ogierów Sieraków is a center for horse riding and equestrian recreation.
