Cycling and hiking trails through Jastrowie
The “Wokół Jastrowskich Jezior” cycling and hiking trail was established in 2004 on the initiative of the Jastrowie Forest District. The occasion was the 80th anniversary of the founding of the State Forests. The blue route runs along a wooden promenade connecting the town beach with the “wild beach.” It then continues between the lakes to Jastrowie. Its route description therefore includes both a connection between two beach areas and a section between the lakes.
The Jastrowie–Diabli Skok cycling and hiking trail offers another way to explore the area. It starts at Plac Jana Pawła II in the center of Jastrowie. From there, the route passes through the town park and continues along Roosevelta Street. When choosing a route, you can therefore decide whether to follow the promenade and lakes or start in the town center.
Church tower and railway bridge
The tower of the NMP Królowej Polski church is 46.3 meters high and is the highest point in the town. Its height gives the building a distinct presence in the townscape. For visitors who want to take in architecture as well as trails during their trip, the church is a specific point of interest; the figure also gives a sense of its height without requiring a comparison with other buildings.
The steel truss railway bridge over the Gwda tells another chapter in the town’s history. It has a lower parabolic truss and was opened on September 10, 1914, together with the 13.5-kilometer section of the Jastrowie–Węgierce railway line. The date, bridge structure, and railway section are linked: the bridge is not only a structure over the river, but is also connected with the railway link of that time. This adds a technical and historical dimension to the picture of Jastrowie.
Beach on Lake Duże
The municipal beach is on Lake Duże. The lake was formerly also called Miejskie or Leśne, so if you come across these names elsewhere, they refer to Lake Duże. This distinction helps clarify the beach’s connection to the lake without confusing the former names with another place.
During the season, a small shop, basic food services, and watercraft rentals are open at the municipal beach. These services are explicitly seasonal. If any of them are important to your plans, check that they are open before your visit. This makes clear the difference between the lake’s enduring relevance as a point of reference and the seasonal services.
