Kasinka MaĆa: Mountain Views and Hiking Trails
Accommodation in Kasinka Mala
In Kasinka MaĆa, striking mountain peaks, hiking trails, and local stories come together. The village lies on the road between Mszana Dolna and Krakow. Here, the Kasinka stream flows into the Raba, a right-bank tributary of the Vistula. Kasinka MaĆa therefore offers both a practical starting point for trails to the surrounding heights and its own historical and cultural attractions to consider when planning your trip.
Peaks, Valleys, and Changing Views
Kasinka MaĆa is surrounded by Szczebel (977 m), Lubogoszcz (968 m), and Kiczora (735 m). The viewing spots include a summit meadow below the peak of Szczebel, as well as the summit and viewing meadow of Lubogoszcz. From these points, you can look out over the valleys of the Raba and Mszanka rivers, as well as peaks in the Island Beskids and the Gorce Mountains. These viewpoints offer different perspectives on two of the area's most prominent peaks.
Smaller natural features also add to the landscape. The âZimna Dziuraâ ice cave lies on the northern slope of Szczebel, with ice remaining inside all year round. It is about 5 m high, 7 m long, and 2 m wide. Lubogoszcz is also home to the changeable âĆ»abie Oczkoâ lake. It can dry up and become overgrown with plants. When it contains water, its surface area is about 90 mÂČ. Both places offer their own natural features to consider in your plans, and are distinct from the viewpoints.
Trails to Szczebel and Lubogoszcz
Kasinka MaĆa is a junction for hiking trails to Szczebel and Lubogoszcz. A black trail leads to Szczebel; the summit can be reached by three routes in total. Lubogoszcz has yellow and black trail sections, which connect to a red trail leading to the summit. If you want to include the mountains in your trip, you can choose based on your preferred destination: Szczebel via its black trail, or the described sequence of trails on Lubogoszcz.
A Quest About Local History
The âBaza Lubo GoĆciâ quest starts in Kasinka MaĆa on the black hiking trail, 300 meters before the gate of the âLubogoszczâ Training and Recreation Centre and before the concrete slabs. The route crosses Lubogoszcz and tells the story of the nearly century-old centre. Riddles lead to a solution word; at the end of the route, there is a treasure chest containing the quest book. The quest thus combines a story told through riddles with a specific place and the history of the centre.
Memories, Traditions, and Winter
The village's history is also commemorated: a stone monument in the Szczypki settlement and a memorial grave with a plaque in the cemetery remember those killed during the 1937 peasant strikes. Traditional costumes worn by the ZagĂłrzanie offer another glimpse into regional culture. You can see them in Kasinka MaĆa at local festivals and performances by a brass band. As well as landscapes and hiking trails, visitors interested in these subjects can find cultural and historical points of interest.
Kasinka MaĆa's climatic conditions are considered favorable for winter sports and ski tourism. A literary landmark in the nearby area is also worth including in your trip plans: on the slope of Lubogoszcz stands the SzczepaĆski family villa, where the story of JĂłzef SzczepaĆski's novel âPortki Odyssaâ takes place.
Plan your search for a hotel, apartment, or holiday home around whether hiking trails to Szczebel and Lubogoszcz, or local history and regional culture, will shape your stay.
