Makowica can be explored through two themes closely connected to the landscape: Route No. 4 passes through the hamlet and around the summit of Kamionna, while an observation tower and a meadow offer different panoramic views. For your planning, it is worth considering the specific walking section, the route for hiking and mountain biking, and the viewing directions separately. This gives you a clear sense of direction without applying the walking time for one section to an entire tour.

Route No. 4: Walking Route and Orientation

On Route No. 4, you can reach the hamlet of Makowica from the previous stopping point in about 30 minutes on foot, heading west. There is another stopping point beside a wayside shrine. This time estimate relates to one section, so it should not be used as a measure of the entire hiking and mountain-biking route. If you are planning to walk this section, the previous stopping point as your starting point, the westerly direction, and the approximate walking time are the relevant points of reference. The route description was published in 2013. Check the current route and trail conditions before setting out.

Panoramic Views from Kamionna

From the observation tower on Kamionna in the Makowica area, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of Pogórze Wiśnickie, Pogórze Rożnowskie, Beskid Sądecki, Beskid Wyspowy, Gorce, Magura Spiska, the Tatras, Babia Góra with Pasmo Policy, and Beskid Makowski. The many named landscapes give the panoramic view a specific geographical context. Rather than describing just one viewing direction, the viewpoint takes in a range of different mountain and foothill landscapes. If you like to identify your destinations by landscape names, this view offers several specific points of reference.

An Additional View to the West

Another perspective is available at the Makowica stopping point: a meadow below the road offers additional panoramic views to the southwest and west. Unlike the 360-degree view from the tower, this one is described in terms of two specific compass directions. This helps you distinguish the viewpoints by the kind of view they offer: the focus on Kamionna is on the all-round panorama, while the meadow offers views to the west and southwest. The two descriptions therefore refer to different panoramas, not the same viewpoint.

Hiking and Mountain Biking

Hiking and mountain-biking Route No. 4 passes through Makowica and around the summit of Kamionna. This places the area on routes for both hiking and mountain biking. For planning purposes, you can distinguish the route information from the details about the viewpoints: the route describes its course and the ways to travel it, while the viewpoints describe either the all-round panorama or the viewing direction. Together, these details help orient visitors with different interests, without applying the walking time for the described section to the entire route.

Information about Kamionna Mountain

In 2025, a table-and-bench set and a tourist bench were provided for Kamionna Mountain near Makowica. Signposts to the mountain were also put up. The information about Kamionna therefore includes both seating and signs. If you would like to take these amenities into account when planning, check whether they are still there before your visit.
