Krzyszkowice can be explored through specific historical landmarks: the manor and park complex, the cemetery by St. Anne’s Parish Church, and two chapels with their own dedications. Different historical periods converge in the village, from the founding of a chapel in the 19th century to the transfer of human remains in the 20th century. When planning a trip, it is also useful to distinguish between the local history of Krzyszkowice and the broader hiking and cultural destinations in the wider Myślenice destination.

Manor and Park Complex in the Village Centre

The manor and park complex is in the central part of Krzyszkowice, a few hundred metres west of St. Anne’s Parish Church. The present manor house in the complex was built around 2013. A local description from June 2020 noted that the manor park was gradually taking on a design resembling the one shown on historical maps. The description also noted that three ponds east of the manor complex had become clearly visible again. The site can therefore be understood both through the more recent construction of the manor house and through the park layout shown on historical maps.

The cemetery by St. Anne’s Church was established and consecrated in 1886. The grave of priest and professor Władysław Wicher is located there. In January 1937, the human remains of Augusta de Montléart were transferred to the local cemetery in Krzyszkowice. These dates represent different historical points of reference: the cemetery’s history and the record of a specific transfer.

A stone chapel dedicated to St. Florian was founded in 1883 by Andrzej and Katarzyna Salowie. The wooden chapel dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk stands at the entrance to the park on a brick plinth. The differences are clear: the Florian Chapel is known for its stone construction and founding, while the Nepomuk Chapel is distinguished by its wood, brick plinth and location at the park entrance.

The History of Myślenice and More Places to Visit

The historic urban layout of Myślenice is considered a valuable monument at regional and national level and an example of a medieval town plan. Relics of a settlement that existed before the town was founded have also been preserved. These traces give the history of the place a depth that reaches beyond its medieval layout.

The church of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Myślenice was built in the mid-15th century; between 1642 and 1646, it was given an early Baroque chapel. The sanctuary also houses a miraculous image painted in Italy in the 16th century, which became a destination for numerous pilgrimages. In the Zarabie district, the area along the Raba River was transformed into a well-equipped leisure park with numerous walking and cycling paths. A circular route around Myślenice leads to a summit with an observation tower, a private astronomical observatory and the upper station of the ski lift, which has a restaurant currently in operation.
