Pcim brings together local history, regional traditions and hiking. At its heart are St. Nicholas Church and the rectory right next door; Kąt and the chapel on rola Kumosie offer another perspective on the town. For outdoor activities, routes lead from Pcim to Koskowa Góra and Łysina. Their stated distances, elevation points and total ascents differ, giving you specific information to help plan your trip.

Local History and Buildings

St. Nicholas Church stands in the center of Pcim and was built in 1829 in the Josephine style. The Neoclassical rectory stands right next to it and dates from 1802. The buildings were constructed 27 years apart; the rectory is older than the church. The two neighboring buildings bring together different periods of construction and architectural styles in a central location.

The place name Kąt also has a historical dimension: this part of Pcim was formerly called Żebraczy Kąt and is considered the oldest part of the town. On rola Kumosie stands the Kapliczka Trzeciego upadku chapel, a replica of a 19th-century structure. The church and rectory can be identified by their construction dates; for Kąt, it is its traditional status as the oldest part of town, and for the chapel, it is the replica that establishes the historical connection.

Compare Hiking Routes

The route from Pcim via Kotoń (857 m) to Koskowa Góra (866 m) is 16.0 km long, with a total ascent of 880 m. Another route leads from Pcim via Działek (600 m) to Łysina (891 m); it is 10.0 km long and has a total ascent of 620 m. By comparison, the route to Koskowa Góra is 6 km longer and has 260 m more total ascent. This lets you compare the two hikes by distance and ascent, even though they lead to different destinations.

A black hiking trail also leads to Łysina from Pcim via Bania (611 m) and the PTTK mountain hut at Kudłacze (730 m). Pcim lies at an elevation of 330 m on this section of the route. Łysina is therefore the destination of both the route via Działek and the black trail via Bania and Kudłacze. The listed waypoints distinguish the two routes and help you choose your preferred one based on its stops.

The elevations of the destinations and the total ascent describe different measurements: 866 m and 891 m are the elevations of Koskowa Góra and Łysina, while 880 m and 620 m are the respective total ascents. Before setting out, check current trail conditions and the markings on the ground.

Regional Traditions

The “Pcimianie” regional ensemble offers another cultural perspective. It was founded in 1970 at the Klub Rolnika and brought together members of the Związek Młodzieży Wiejskiej and the Koło Gospodyń Wiejskich. The ensemble was founded in response to a call from the Krakowski Dom Kultury to revive a traditional regional wedding. The ensemble resumed its activities after 2022. Its founding and later resumption are two distinct points in the ensemble’s history.
