Discover Rytro: Trails and Nature
Accommodation in Rytro
Marked hiking trails, a municipal ecological park and the railway station are useful points of reference when planning a stay in Rytro. Three described hikes lead to two mountain huts and differ in their stated walking times. This lets you focus your planning on the time you have available and your destination when choosing Rytro as a travel destination.
Hiking trails to two mountain huts
A red-marked hiking trail leads from Rytro via Mikołaska, Kordowiec, Poczekaj, Niemcowa, Wielki Rogacz, Żłóbki, Radziejowa and Złomisty Wierch to the Przehyba mountain hut. The stated walking time is 5 hours 30 minutes. A second option to Przehyba is marked blue: it runs via Wielka Roztoka, Wdżary and Wietrzne Dziury, with a stated walking time of 3 hours 45 minutes. Another red route leads via Makowica, Zadnie Góry, Pisana Hala and Wierch Nad Kamieniem to the Łabowska Hala mountain hut. The stated walking time for this trail is 4 hours.
If Przehyba is your destination, you can distinguish between the two described options by their trail markings, waypoints and walking times. At 3 hours 45 minutes, the blue route has the shorter of the two stated walking times; the red route is listed at 5 hours 30 minutes. By contrast, the trail to Łabowska Hala leads to a different mountain hut and is listed at 4 hours. These times help you compare the hikes, but do not replace checking trail conditions: find out about the state of the trails before setting out.
An ecological park with a clear conservation purpose
The Gminny Park Ekologiczny in Rytro also gives the area a distinctive connection to nature. Established in 1996, it was Poland’s first municipal “Ecological Park.” Its purpose is to protect unique sites of flora and fauna characteristic of montane wetlands. The year of establishment and conservation purpose identify the park as a municipal nature conservation project, focused on habitats and their plant and animal life. For your trip planning, this offers a different kind of nature experience from the longer hikes to the mountain huts.
Getting around by train and bike
Rytro railway station is on railway line 96 between Tarnów and Leluchów. It has one platform with two platform edges. If you are planning to travel by train, check current services with the operator.
EuroVelo routes also pass through Rytro, connecting local cycle paths and cycling routes. If you are looking for specific destinations and timings for a hike, the described tours provide both; EuroVelo adds an option for planning a cycling trip.
