Rzyki: Nature Trail, Ski Resort and Local History
Accommodation in Rzyki
Rzyki offers several distinct reasons to stay: the Ścieżka Czarny Groń nature trail takes visitors through woodland and rocky landscapes, other paths lead towards Leskowiec and Groń Jana Pawła II, and Czarny Groń adds a ski resort to the range of activities. Local history includes St. James’ Church and the weaving workshops in the surrounding area.
Nature Trail and Other Paths
The Ścieżka Czarny Groń nature trail is about 7.5 kilometres long and starts and ends at the Czarny Groń centre in Rzyki. It runs through the Pracica stream valley and over Smrekowica, Łamana Skała and Potrójna. Along the way, it passes through a variety of ecosystems, especially woodland landscapes, as well as interesting rock formations. The distance is approximate; both the starting and finishing points are at the Czarny Groń centre.
Rzyki offers direct access to mountain hiking paths towards Leskowiec and Groń Jana Pawła II. A section of the almost 300-kilometre Beskidzka Droga św. Jakuba, a pilgrimage route through the Beskids, can be travelled on foot or by mountain bike in Rzyki. Another option is the 18-kilometre cycling route from Andrychów via Rzyki Centrum and Rzyki Praciaki and back to Andrychów. The difference in their routes is clear: the nature trail starts and ends in Rzyki, while Andrychów is the starting and finishing point of the cycling route, which passes through two locations in Rzyki.

Church and Textile History
St. James’ Church in Rzyki was built between 1793 and 1796. It was founded by Princess Apolonia Potocka, heiress to the Zator estates. Among its most valuable furnishings are a Gothic sculpture from 1400 and another from the 16th century. The church was therefore built considerably later than the two sculptures that are part of its furnishings.
The history of weaving is also connected with Rzyki. After the first partition of Poland in 1772, there were 700 weaving workshops in Andrychów and the surrounding villages, including Rzyki. They exported locally made cloth to Europe and Asia. The craft tradition can thus be understood in its regional context: it involved several places and was not limited to Rzyki alone.
