Wadowice lies in the western part of the Wieliczka Foothills, in a basin between the foothills and the ranges of the Beskid Mały. The town is also situated in the Skawa Valley. In the town centre, Wadowice lies between the Skawa and the Choczenka watercourse. This gives you two ways to place the town in its landscape: by its position in the wider region and by the two waterways in its centre.

Trails through history and pilgrimage landscapes
The Karol Wojtyła Trail is about 4.5 kilometres long and leads to 14 stops connected with the childhood and youth of Saint John Paul II. Galicyjskie Wadowice is a similar length, at about five kilometres, but has a different focus: its 13 stops present the town’s history during the Partitions of Poland. So the choice between the two trails is mainly about the theme—personal milestones or the town’s political history.
Longer pilgrimage routes also pass through Wadowice. The Romea Strata runs for 20 kilometres through the municipality of Wadowice, passing through Jaroszowice, Wadowice, Chocznia, Zawadka and Ponikiew. Another route is the 53-kilometre section of the Beskidzka Droga św. Jakuba, from Myślenice via Sułkowice, Lanckorona and Kalwaria Zebrzydowska to Wadowice. These figures illustrate the different scales of pilgrimage routes: from a themed walk in town to a section that connects several named places.
Active pursuits: pump track, cycling trails and the Skawa
The pump track in Wadowice has loops for beginners and advanced riders, adapted to different difficulty levels. Use is free; check the current rules before your visit. Wadowice Trails offers a different experience: this complex of mountain-bike singletracks is located in the wooded area of Jaroszowicka GĂłra and is designed for beginners, families with children and experienced mountain bikers.
Around 55 kilometres of tourist cycling trails run through the municipality. The size of the network may change as the infrastructure develops. On the water, the Wadowice–Grodzisko kayak route offers a different kind of outing: it is 14 kilometres long, divided into three stages, and takes an estimated 3.5 hours of paddling. The Skawa flows through the Dolina Dolnej Skawy Natura 2000 site; you may spot waterbirds along the way. Because of its many rapids, rocks protruding from the water and meanders, the Skawa is recommended for experienced kayakers.
Getting your bearings in town
The bus station is on ul. Marsz. J. Piłsudskiego, opposite the railway station. Its location makes it an easy landmark when finding your way around town. At the market square, you can try Wadowice cream cake. In Wadowice, cultural sites, themed and pilgrimage routes of varying lengths, and cycling and water activities are all complemented by a clearly identifiable point of reference in the town centre.
