The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Błonie was built from 1913 to 1916 and consecrated in 1923. It was designed by Józef Pius Dziekoński.

Culture and History

The building is a brick, east-facing, single-nave church in the Neo-Baroque style. The nave, presbytery and apses of the transept feature stellar vaults; barrel vaults are found above the gallery and the vestibule.

The furnishings include an embroidered chasuble from the 17th century, a Rococo monstrance from the mid-17th century and Baroque tin candlesticks. The parish indulgence day is the Sunday after the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

A document from 1235 mentions Błonie and describes the transfer of the settlement by Gumbert, the Archdeacon of Kraków, to the Cistercian monastery in Wąchock. The parish in Błonie was founded in 1373 by the Archbishop of Gniezno. At its foundation, a wooden larch church dedicated to All Saints was donated; it stood for 600 years.

Błonie is also home to a farm building from the mid-19th century that formerly belonged to Wilhelm Orsetti. The brick, single-storey building has a converted attic and a half-hipped roof. Finds from the Błonie burial ground point to links with the local cultural environment and contacts with western regions.

Nature and Landscape

The former “Błonie” nature reserve was located in the vicinity of the village of Błonie. It covered 20.74 hectares and was established in 1977 to protect halophytic vegetation. It was abolished by Order No. 40/2013 of the Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Łódź dated 26 June 2013.

District road P2521 runs through Błonie and connects Topola Królewska with Dąbie via Siemszyce, Chorki and Grabów. District road P2522 runs from Błonie via Łęka, Gać, Leszno and Kupinin.
